Not only should the people living in the County of Fresno call the District Attorney and demand that the charges be dropped, they should go to the hearing and be late for or not show up at work at all. This is the ruling class of California, namely the corporate agriculture thugs who dominate California and farm counties like Fresno, terrorizing the workingclass. I urge every single Fresno County resident to get on the phone RIGHT NOW and leave a message with the district attorney stating: (1) You are a Fresno County Resident (no need to give name); (2) Drop the charges against Maribel Cuevas TODAY!; (3) Never again allow such fascist attacks on human beings again!

Those of you who do not live in Fresno County may also wish to call and you should add (4) Fresno County, like all other counties, receives state and federal tax dollars to function and therefore it is everybody's business as to what happens in Fresno County.

Isn't this America!!! Don't feel intimidated, give your name address and phone #. And also call you City and County Representative and ask they why they have not spoken out. (maybe they have in a press release and it wasn't picked up by local news stations).

What will it take for some responsible, intelligent, commonsense type people run for Chief of Police, Sheriff, and Mayor in Fresno. There are so many great people in Fresno who could win an election against these Buffoons. The current "good ol' boys" really need to be kicked out. What an embarrasment they are to Fresno. Unfortunately not enough good people get out to vote and give financial support to candidates. The various Progressive groups in Fresno and the central Valley have been trying hard for so many years to get a Citizens Police Review Board. One would think that Fresno is Majority of Stereotypical Okies, Arkies, and good ol' texans.. they are a small minority but they do vote. ****** I hope you good people from the Bay Area, LA, Santa Cruz, Sacramento and everyone inbetween who come to help support this victim of Good ol' boy terrorism.. also give some words of support for those from the local progressive community and listen to them. Give them pats on the back, and hugs because they too need your support.

Well, in many ways I agree with the sentiment that giving your name is an act of righteousness, but only yesterday I stumbled across an UGLY sight from our good friends on the other side printing a list of names from a petition, claiming to have called and encouraging others to do the same employers, supervisors, commanding officers to "rat out" the signees. All the while of course, hiding like the chickenshit brownshirt hillbillies they are behind their code names they use when they take off the masks they wear in public discourse. Because at a bear minimum one or two activists may be subject to reprisals from employers it is perfectly understandable for anyone who wishes to post as Santa Claws or whatever, that may be in their best interest. The flip side being in the normal forum of political discussion using a cover name is sacrificing a certain amount of legitimacy. Like casting a vote under an assumed name. The necessity for protecting your identity is proof enough that we are not FREE, and those who would attempt to stifle and encumber concerned activists through ignorant bigoted tattle tale actions should step forward with their identity or expect to have it revealed in like fashion and live in fear of reprisals worse than they can possibly imagine. But then, Republican fascist bible beaters act as if there is no Hell that applies to they...

Sorry, I was thinking about when you call the Office of the Mayor, Chief of Police, or your Representative, so they know that a voter is taking a stand against their irresponsiblity.

as of 12:00pm. I have not seen report of the result of the court hearing. BUT I have seen on CNN webpage the reporting of Marible's case. What another embarrassment for the city Fresno. and we wonder why others view us as a bunch of ya hoos.. Amazing that the ya hoos are really the small minority.

An 11-year-old girl who faced a felony assault for throwing a rock at a boy will serve six months informal probation, a judge said today.

Maribel Cuevas who injured Elijah Vang with the rock on April 29 will also have to shake hands and apologize as part of a reconciliation process, said her attorney, Richard Beshwate.

Beshwate said both sides agreed on the punishment before Maribel's trial, expected to begin today. They agreed not to require Maribel to admit to a criminal offense, he said.

Maribel will participate in the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program which brings victims and offenders together in safe mediation or family group conference.

Compare the treatment of Maribel with the treatment of Palo Alto police Michael Kan and Craig Lee, who were tried for felony assault and battery for the beating of an innocent 59-year-old resident sitting in his parked car. Their victim required knee surgery that he still suffers from two years later.

After a mistrial, where 8 of 12 jurors voted to convict, Kan and Lee pleaded 'no contest' to an infraction: public fighting. Their punishment for fighting was a mere $250 fine: no probation, no required counseling.

Why is an 11-year-old kid, who retaliates when attacked, given more punishment than two adult police who pleaded to public fighting for their brutal attack on an innocent person?
