Justice for Melvin McHenry!

by InPDUM Oakland (uhurureparations [at] yahoo.com)
Press Conference and Rally in Support of the Family of 16-Year-Old Melvin McHenry Shot by Police Informant Patrick McCullough Defend the African Community's Right to Free Speech, Economic Development and Community Control
Vigilante Violence Against the African Community!
Arrest Patrick McCullough and Support Reparations to
the Family of Melvin McHenry Now!

The International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement
Oakland branch is calling for everyone to join in a
demonstration and press conference:

Wednesday, April 20th at 10am
at Bushrod Park, Oakland
(on 59th St. near Telegraph)

Demand justice for shooting of 16-year-old Melvin
McHenry by police informant Patrick McCullough.

Come out on Wednesday to take a stand against the
vicious disregard
for African life shown by Neighborhood Crime
Prevention Councils and Oakland Police Department by
the exoneration of Patrick McCullough's shooting of a
young black teenager.

They justifyed the shooting of by alleging that
McHenry and his family are drug dealers. This is the
same tactic that they use all the time to evict black
families from the neighborhood. But the facts are:
there is NO economic development in the African
community, you can find all the drugs you ever wanted
to find in any dorm room of any white student on any
campus in the U.S., and if this were to happen in the
white community - the city would be OUTRAGED!

Come out on Wednesday and take a stand in support of
the African community's right to life!

InPDUM is also calling on supporters to come out to
the regular Wednesday meeting this week out at the
Uhuru House at 7pm at 7911 MacArthur Blvd in Oakland
to take on the struggle for justice for the family of
Melvin McHenry. Take Edwards Ave from 580 to
MacArthur; left on MacArthur; go six blocks and Uhuru
House is on the right.

Someone take pictures of what happens.

Wow! More lunacy from the ever-irrelevant Uhuru people, who have been old and tired for years now. Melvin got just what he deserved. Stop hanging around with drug dealers and thugs and you won't get into trouble. The law abiding black man who shot him was protecting his property from Melvin and his friends. Melvin chose the wrong friends and the wrong black guy to mess with.

Yes - I haven't done a broad survey, but lots of progressive and radical black people don't really mesh with the uhuru leaders. But given the amount of attention this story has gotten, the press could totally show up and tell everyone about who the Uhuru group is, and it will be interesting to see what happens.

Uhuru is sick. A black working class guy defends himself against some dealers and Uhuru shows their sickening opportunism by faking that they're sticking up for black youth-- by trying to intimidate Patrick McCullogh out of the neighborhood. I support Patrick McCullough along with the other 99% of the neighborhood.

Nobody supports Uhuru house except a few guilted out white dunces!!!!!! Nobody from the neighborhood will be at their phony rally except maybe some of the dealers family members.

by action
will fail, like all Uhuru actions do.

they have virtually no support within the African-American community.

After shooting an unarmed 16 year old kid who lived across the street from him, McCullough has brought together all sectors of the white community in solidarity with his vigilantism -- from the cops, to Mayor Jerry Brown, to the well-to-do white homeowners of Rockridge, to the radical white left right here on indymedia. If he had only been successful in murdering the boy, he might have had a ticker-tape parade held in his honor going down Telegraph!

What do you think would be the best caption for this photo?

The Uhuru losers had a measily 15 people at their rally. How come no black people from the neighborhood came to support the uhuru idiots? Nobody from the neighborhood came and supported uhuru. Uhuru has no support from any sane person black or white person.

For a hilarious account of the rally go to: http://www.eastbayexpress.com/issues/2005-04-27/news/eastsidestory.html

Which do you find most hilarious?

The East Bay Express article, or the fact itself, that a bunch of white people threw a party for a black man who shot an unarmed, 16 year old black kid hanging out on his own block -- a block that has been coveted by white people for gentrification for over a decade (google "safe streets now" "molly wetzel")? Maybe the deafening silence from the white, so-called pacifists and progressives in the Bay Area on the matter (if they aren't openly supporting the vigilante) is the most hilarious thing about the issue...?
by me
There is no deafening silence-- I think you guys are fucking kooks. Nobody outside of your sad cult showed up to intimidate McCullough. Not one black person from the neighborhood (outside of maybe McHenry's family) showed up to your pathetic rally. Nobody is falling your "McCullough works for whitey" routine.

Which one of the folks in the picture is "me"? my guess is its that little wormy guy with the round specticles. But maybe it' the sweaty greasy pig himself shaking hands with the snitch. Is that a gun McCullough's making toward him with his fingers? Nah, couldn't be.
