A premier screening of "The Gas Is Not For Sale" by the Bolivian labor videography group Tecer Mundo will be screened in a benefit for the Latin American Working Class Film and Video Festival in El Alto, Bolivia this coming October. There will also be presentations on labor media.

First Screening Screening In US and In Commemoration Of The 2003 Rebellion

This powerful film recounts the massive rebellion of miners, teachers, indigenous people and women in Bolivia in February 2003 against the privatization and sale of the country’s gas to Chile and for export to the United States. This privatization was the direct result of the US/IMF privatization policies. The Bolivian army was called in to repress the people and over 33 were murdered and hundreds were wounded.
This important film will also be followed by a labor music video from Bolivia.
Tercer Mundo. an independent labor video collective from El Alto, Boliva along with other labor media groups in Bolivia will be issuing the call for the first Latin American Working Class Film and Video Festival in Bolivia this coming October 2005. This event will help benefit their festival in Bolivia this coming October. The first festival was held in Buenos Aires last November http://www.felco.ojoobrero.org and plans are being made to bring the festival to the bay area this coming July 2005. http://www.laborfest.net

Labor Media Media Presentations & Discussion Prior to Video Screening

There will also be a Labor Media Forum with Dr Andrew Vandenberg, Lecturer at Deakin University of Australia and labor videographer and teacher Lynn Werner.
Dr. Vandenberg will report on how by using the internet, local unions branches can articulate vertically with national and global union bodies, and articulate horizontally with social movements in other arenas of conflict.
