"The Gas Is Not For Sale" By Tercer Mundo Labor Video Group of Bolivia First Screening Screening In US and In Commemoration Of The 2003 Rebellion Saturday February 19, 2005 7:00 PM New College 766 Valencia St. SF This powerful film recounts the massive rebellion of miners, teachers, indigenous people and women in Bolivia in February 2003 against the privatization and sale of the country’s gas to Chile and for export to the United States. This privatization was the direct result of the US/IMF privatization policies. The Bolivian army was called in to repress the people and over 33 were murdered and hundreds were wounded. This important film will also be followed by a labor music video from Bolivia. Tercer Mundo. an independent labor video collective from El Alto, Boliva along with other labor media groups in Bolivia will be issuing the call for the first Latin American Working Class Film and Video Festival in Bolivia this coming October 2005. This event will help benefit their festival in Bolivia this coming October.
