Nam-style resistance to 4 more years of war? Ask Chris Daly?

by Tortuga (SaveFreedom [at] yahoogroups.com)
Supervisor Chris Daly visits U-U progressive Forum on D5;
U-U's discuss hotel workers on D12;
plus more things 2 do in your SF Gay Area.
SF, Dec. 5: Progressive Unitarian-Universalists warmly greet SF Supervisor Chris Daly at their Sunday morning Forum. Daly arrives late because of baby troubles, speaks briefly about cuts in city services, takes questions.
Answering anti-war U-U's, he suggests more resistance to Iraq occupation; growing like the 1960s/70s movement against the Vietnam War. SF voters have already passed a resolution against the war;so now Daly's urging other cities to do likewise.

One questioner suggests a second resolution, symbolically declaring SF to be a haven for deserters from the U.S. military.
(In reality, of course, U.S. deserters should seek
political asylum in Canada, or in Scandinavian countries.)

As a near-homeless Tenderloin queer radical, I've voted for Daly every time I had the chance. So I'm entitled, IMQO, to ask him the rude question which genteel folks avoid:
"When are you gonna learn how to relate -- physically -- to people who are short, weak, frail or crippled?"
His reply seems to satisfy most of the U-U's.

What about Daly's future?
In my queer opinion, he may seek and win one more term
as Supe from District 6. Then, if all goes well, he might want a seat in the California state legislature.
Will this impatient young man respectfully wait his turn, until an older progressive (Leno? Migden?) gets termed out?
Or will he prematurely try to shove an incumbent Dem aside
(as Gonzalez shoved Ammiano)?
[ My unsolicited advice to Daly: If circumstances force a
time-out from public office, please earn a law degree during the interval. ]

[Comment by TBL: Strangely, Democrats have willingly adopted blue as their political and cultural color.
Probably TV networks originally chose blue for Democrats in order to avoid calling them "red" or "pink",
hence socialistic; and red for Republicans in order to avoid painting them as "blue-nosed prudes", or as cops.
("Thin Blue Line" formerly referred to a police force.)
So TV gave each party the opposite of its historic color.

This fits with the leftist view that the two biggest parties are like two professional athletic teams
which compete on the playing field, yet both are owned by the same giant corporation.
You can bet on one or both, but "the house always wins".]

100 Ways to Play: a Katalog of Kink
by Angela and Iain
7:30pm until 10:30pm (or so)

Doors at 7:00pm
At a good party, youll see dozens of different techniques in action. Which ones are easier? What are they called?
How do you learn them? Which players are safe and competent, versus merely boisterous?

We cover all the techniques youre likely to see in a dungeon or be asked to try. For each we include what it looks like,
what it feels like for the top and bottom, what its really about, safety, equipment, difficulty, and how to learn it.

Coverage includes techniques in ten groups: Bondage, Dominance/submission, Electrical, Fetish, Impact, Medical, Psychological, Role-play, Sensation, and Sex play. Because of limited time, we cannot fully teach every technique, but this program prepares you to select and attend the Janus Survey Series classes and Sampler Night, as well as specialized classes in the individual techniques that interest you.

Legendary birthday of Mithra, a sun god popular in the Roman Legion;

WORLD: Dec. 31: New Year's Eve,
on which we may temporarily ignore
the patriarchy, for a few care-free hours?

[ Dec. 25 and 31 are both approximations of the December Solstice.
In the Northern Hemisphere, this solstice reassured pre-literate humans
that the apparently "dying" sun would revive once more.
If the sun ever fails to revive, they reasoned, then the gods have decided to end the world.

Today, humans make small artificial suns (H-bombs) which can terminate the human species,
leaving our planet suitable for cockroaches.
If we do this ourselves, don't blame the G-d(s).... ]
