IWW Truckers Win Demands after Strike in Stockton
Truck Drivers in the Central Valley, who are members of Motor Transport Workers Industrial Union 530 of the IWW are now back to work.
September 15, 2004 - Update:
Truck Drivers in the Central Valley, who are members of Motor Transport Workers Industrial Union 530 of the IWW are now back to work.
After winning 70% of their demands and making a point of their problems with their workplace, the bosses caved after nearly three days. Three days of trucking is losses in the $10,000s for the company and they could not suffer much more.
A new contract was signed which included the new demands. Overall, worker's solidarity and stregnth won out.

good to hear some winning even if it is small to whats needed. my father drove truck for a long time in the teamsters. he was for a democratic union there but in the sense that short haul or long haul and every haul swampers are needed. well that has not happened yet and though i know it is needed it will take the might of the entire working class to get that just cause. and now with electric truck motors possible the pollution could also be ended, and expensive gas and oil a thing of the past. workers of all counties unite.
