VICTORIA ASHLEY & JOSEPH ANDERSON DEBUNK KERRY AND "ABB"-THINK ON KPFA'S HARD KNOCK RADIO!

by Joseph Anderson

Victoria Ashley & "Joseph from Berkeley" Anderson discuss 3rd party politics, Nader/Camejo, the Greens, and Kerry, on KPFA-fm out of Berkeley, CA.

RE: Victoria Ashley & "Joseph from Berkeley" Anderson discuss 3rd party politics, Nader/Camejo, the Greens, and John Kerry, on KPFA-fm out of Berkeley, CA.

Take "the red pill" and wake up -- or take "the blue pill" and go back to sleep!

For anyone who missed it:

Alameda Green Party elected county council official and activist, Victoria Ashley (she is *very* articulate and incisive; I recommended her for interview) and Joseph from Berkeley were interviewed by hiphop culture journalist and radio host Davey D on KPFA's Hard Knock Radio -- Tues, Aug 10, at 4:00pm -- about 3rd party politics and the whole issue of the ABB mentality and Kerry vs. Bush.

The program started with a great excerpted historical speech by Malcolm X about the two major parties.

(The day before, Aug 9, Davey played a great speech by Peter Camejo. And even KPFA's "The Morning Show" had Native-American activist-academic Ward Churchill on, in the 7:30am segment, to debunk the ABB and Kerry mythology.)

Most of the time format was spent receiving studio call-in phone calls, so we really didn't have time to go too deep into the issue and bring out a lot of facts debunking Kerry as "The Great Liberal/Progressive/Leftist Hope", but some good points were nonetheless mentioned (including some very important, then, breaking news by myself about Kerry) and the show was okay. I also did a creative piece (although rushed) about the RepubliCrat "Matrix".

Davey D is to be commended for giving a voice to an *alternative* perspective on KPFA and helping to break the (until recently) logjam at KPFA of Nader Haters and "Leftists for Kerry!!"

If you missed the program, you can listen to KPFA's audio archive at http://www.kpfa.org and listen to the hear it there at Hard Knock Radio.

(KPFA recommends the latest version of Windows Media Player or Winamp, rather than RealPlayer, for better results and control.)

Any feedback/criticism is always welcome. Sorry I was so busy last-minute preparing that I didn't have time to let people know in advance.

A few particularly excellent articles (obtainable online, Google/search them using quotation marks for exact title/string searches) that I/we recommended on the program were:

by Stephen Gowan (Canadian political essayist/commentator)

"Neo-cons, Part II",

I had a conversation with a person where we found lots of agreement on specific issues, but they are under the strong influence of Rush Limbaugh and that type of radio show, and they strongly believed that if Kerry is elected, a cultural type of war will have been lost in this country because Kerry is so liberal and socialism will be instituted etc. There are probably more people like this than there will be 3rd party voters.

Another corporate media brainwash victim.

Just tell them about his voting record and how he killed unarmed peasants in Vietnam - no leftie kills people who are unarmed.

Also, just tell them about this:

Only a small handful of hotbutton issues should work for *any* Rush Limbaugh or other right-wing brainwash victim. This is one of the best.

On the other side, you've got the liberals for Kerry who describe things like this as "But Kerry *has* to do this! Otherwise he won't get elected!" thinking he isn't *really* this way, but is just pretending in order to get elected. Really, he's the next JFK.

Didn't JFK kill unarmed peasants too? Or not?
by oh, really?
I guess you never heard of Joe Stalin, huh? Pol Pot? Mao?

Or do you only mean American lefties? You know, like FDR, JFK, LBJ. Clinton and Truman. What a bunch of peace lovers. Wouldn't harm a fly.

GW Bush at least had the common decency to squirm out of his duty to slaughter innocent Vietnamese. He stayed home, drunk and high on cocaine. It was the one decent thing he ever did in his whole sorry life. Not Kerry. He went. He killed.

Bush vs Kerry is no choice at all. Same soup, different bowl. Heard it before. They're all pigs. No one else succeeds in politics.

The real problem is not in the White House. It's between our ears. When we finally stop believing that who really matters in politics is somebody else, then and only then will we rise up and do it ourselves. If politicians were going to solve the world’s problems, it would have happened a long time ago. Politicians *are* the world’s problem. Our belief in them is the only power they have. Without it they are nothing. Without them, we are everything. Politics is numbers. We believe in politicians, and not in ourselves, because we haven’t done the math.

You're right on that (except Pol Pot . . . a 'leftie?'), but none of those are what I'm talking about - my fault, though, I should have clarified. When I said leftie I was talking about a garden variety sort, regular people, not historical figures, the kind that the Chron refers to when they talk about someone like Chris Daly and label him with that term, or other average people that are against war and don't choose to kill those who are not threatening to them. Maybe some went to Vietnam. One I heard on DNow who did kill unarmed Iraqis, came home and kiilled himself. Not John Forbes Kerry. He came home and voted to put that boy over there to kill unarmed Iraqis.

Indeed, politicians *are* the problem.

The people can rule themselves. Rid the world of politicians and corporate people and we'll all be better off.

This morning I discovered a worm collective in Berkeley - they compost all the food of the university and create red wrigglers. They have a website and a facility and get small salaries.

It's a start.
