March 28-29 - Marriage Equality California is holding a Candlelight Vigil/Karaoke
Wedding Song marathon planned for Sunday March 28th at 6:30pm - the day before the
SF Court rules on the injunction to stop issuing marriage licenses in SF - (or on
any day before that, if the Supreme Court orders the City to stop issuing marriage
licenses.)



The plan is to march from Harvey Milk Plaza in the Castro to City Hall/SF
Courthouse/Supreme Courthouse - and then to continue the rally with an endless night
of dancing to Karaoke Wedding Songs sung by volunteers until the court rules on the
injunction on Monday - probably around noon - on the 29th.



All groups of the GLBT Community and our Straight Allies are invited to take part,
all singers, organizers, leaders, participators, in this peaceful, fun, entertaining
and visually strong statement of a 24 hour Wedding Song Karaoke. Couples are
encouraged to wear wedding garb and bring a copy of their marriage license on a
poster board for show. This is for both the different sex and same sex married
couples participating.

What sort of publicity will there be for Union Square rally? It seems to me that we need to get the word out somehow, so that the turnout will be great. Has that already been addressed?

OPENING AND CLOSING NIGHT
Frameline28 opens on June 17 at the historic Castro Theatre with a screening of TOUCH OF PINK, a hilarious romantic comedy in the old Hollywood tradition. In TOUCH OF PINK, a closeted Ismaili Muslim man in London tries to keep his homosexuality from his family in the midst of his cousin’s enormous wedding<on the advice of his guru, the spirit of Cary Grant (Kyle MacLachlan). Mistry, MacLachlan, and director Ian Iqbal Rashid are expected to attend the festivities. After the film, Opening Night attendees will celebrate the film and Festival at San Francisco’s City Hall, the heart of the recent gay marriage movement.

Eleven days and over 260 films later, the Festival will close on June 27th, the day of San Francisco’s pride parade and celebration, with Angela Robinson’s hilarious and exciting D.E.B.S., based on the popular award-winning short film about a secret band of female spies. After the screening at the Castro Theatre, ease on down to the South-of-Market hotspot, the Terra Gallery, for an exhilarating Closing Night Party.

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS
For its Centerpiece selection, Frameline28 will screen the Italian melodrama ADORED, a hot new film about a porn star who realizes that there might be more to life. This dazzling debut from Italian actor/filmmaker Marco Filiberti goes behind the mask of a narcissistic icon to find what lies beneath. And, two films will receive Special Presentation screenings: John Greyson, the director of LILIES, with co-director Jack Lewis, brings his new historical drama PROTEUS, and REVOLUTION, the newest comedy concert film from SF homegirl Margaret Cho.

Maverick lesbian director Rose Troche, who is currently making THE L WORD into one of the hottest shows on television, will be presented with the 2004 Frameline Award recognizing her significant contributions to gay and lesbian media arts at a 10th anniversary screening of her groundbreaking debut feature, GO FISH. Frameline28 will also present Troche’s BEDROOMS AND HALLWAYS, starring Hugo Weaving, and THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS, starring Glenn Close and Patricia Clarkson.
