WHAT: Fundraiser for Ashkenaz WHEN: This Monday, December 29, 2003, from 7:30 pm - 12:30 am WHERE: Ashkenaz, 1317 San Pablo Avenue, (near Gilman St.), Berkeley, California WHO: The Berkeley Community WHY: Why not? There seems to be very little going on this Monday nite, and Ashkenaz could use some money. Ashkenaz has been rented out for a fundraiser to benefit Ashkenaz this coming Monday, December 29, 2003. We will be asking for a very modest sliding-scale donation at the door. We will be providing Berkeley organic wine, Berkeley brewed beer, and other goodies. There will be a silent auction as well so if you want to donate an item or bid on some great stuff, come early. All proceeds go to benefit Ashkenaz. For the latest info on the event, see www.geocities.com/rickisyoung See www.ashkenaz.com to learn more about this great community space. Ashkenaz is located at: 1317 San Pablo Avenue (near Gilman St.) Berkeley, California ********************************************** THE ROUGH SCHEDULE (this is a work in progress): from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm or so, Greens, progressives, and others who want to make Berkeley a more progressive place are welcome to stop by to talk, strategize, learn and listen. (for those who do not want to see Berkeley become a more progressive place, come meet the people who will be working hard to re-educate and oppose you.) [while the focus is on berkeley first and on other east bay cities second, all are invited and encouraged to attend. Please spread the word in 'frisco quietly and selectively as we don't want to be overrun by City slickers]. from 10 pm -12:30 am, music, music, music. please bring musical instruments and dancing shoes. from 10-11, there will be some structure with certain musicians doing a song or two. (if you want to do a set, please contact me asap.) then from 11-12:30, i am hoping that it will degenerate into a big jam session and wild dancing. (from rick young)
