Journalist, poet, novelist and activist John Ross reports on his work in the occupied Palestinian territories, where he took part in solidarity actions with Palestinian farmers in the shadow of the Expansionist Separation Wall and Zionist settlements built on expropriated Palestinian land. During part of his stay he was hospitalized from injuries from an attack by Israeli settlers as he was harvesting olives with farmers in the village of Yanoun. Ross is one of the leading writers on the Zapatista resistance in Chiapas and on Mexican politics. In February, 2003, he was one of several hundred volunteers who went to Baghdad to be in solidarity with the Iraqi people. His volumes of fiction, nonfiction and poetry are published in English and Spanish, and he reports regularly to the English and Spanish language press.
