Police Protect Maxxam
Thirty people gathered at the home of Joshua Reiss (PR for MAXXAM corporation ). As part of Dirty South EF! weekend.
Thirty people gathered at the 2314 Wroxton home of Joshua Reiss (public relations for MAXXAM corporation ). This was the continuation of the Dirty South Earth First! campaign to hold personally accountable the executives that have made ,and currently make decisions at Maxxam to cut the last remaing old growth Redwood trees in the world, robbed the pension funds of Pacific Lumber employees for 50 Million dollars, fired union steelworkers working for Kaiser Aluminum, and robbed the U.S. taxpayers of $1.2 BILLION dollars during the Savings & Loan scandal.
Houston police targeted what they believed to be organziners of the non-violent but confrontational home demos. When people pulled up to the legal demonstation at the home. The commanding officer Sgt. J.L. Verdin bolting from his own civilian unmarked car took the law into own hand issuing statements to certain people that " I don't give a F*** what your rights are...you cannot protest here. I will arrest you and you can sue or deal with it when you get out. ", "I want YOU to leave now.." and " ...If you drive down the public street I will arrest you ". When asked what would be the charges he replied " pull over you are under arrest " and " you have no F***king rights..."
Making his intentions clear that he was going to
interpret the law...or that he could do as he please
did not deter the event from happening.
The detereminded gathering of people reminded
Josh Reiss and his neighbors where his money came from to buy his nice home and cars.
One protestor, was arbitrarily detained ,and then arrested without formal charge and taken to Central Lockup downtown.
This will not stop the campaign or the individuals
who take action. It only bolsters peoples resolve in the
face of arbitrary "laws".
About 45 minutes into the demonstration Josh
decided to leave the premisis. (Why should he have
a peaceful dayoff from ruining peples lives and the environment?) Seeing the demnstrators face to face.
This action follows a series of home demonstrations
from the Dirty South "Maxxam Weekend" of home demonstrations during which many of the executvies from Maxxscam were visited. There seems to be
some kind of impact being made as evidenced in
the apparantly completely empty 3M$ home of
Paul /Barbara Schwartz fromerly at 3 Smithdale Estates. Their home was devoid of any contents.
As the DSEF! campaign builds momentum it will be broadened to include anyone making from profit from
our destruction.

O.K. I wasn't going to say a word, but since no one else has....
Um, First off, I don't think they took all their stuff and moved because they heard you were coming. It was more than likely because they were um.. moving. I would bet that it wasn't because Jumbo informed them in time.
Or more likely, you got the address wrong
Re read the last sentence. Read it again.
And if you go to the DSEF! web site you can see that the hard core activists have left Humboldt. (well some) Here are some quotes from their website.
Dirty South Earth First! Was formed mid 2003 to storm the gates of the Maxxam corporation.
(Images of crazed peasants and pitchforks at the gates of the castle of Frankinstien)
DSEF! Is a movement made up of people who do not want to debate tactics and is open to every one who wants to take up direct action against the CEO’s, board members, and employees of Maxxam/Pacific Lumber.
(Lets avoid that whole idea of working together and support the loose cannons that normal activists keep under control)(What am I saying? DSEF! are the loose cannons)
DSEF! saw that the current tactics of the environmental struggle to protect our ancient forests were not getting the desired results.
(I can hear them saying "If only we had been running the show")
Nor will we relent until Maxam/PL is out of Humbolt County, taking any actions necessary to bring to their front door-step our contempt for their disregard of our environment and of the once union workers of Pacific Lumber.
(The key word here is "any" as you will read further down)
Our campaign is based on the same strategies as the Anti-Vivisection movement, ....... we will be aiming at the Corporate Criminals themselves. The decision makers. The money makers.
(Are they refering to ALF and PETA? Hey, where is Rod?)
We will be at their neighborhood, their churches, their work, anywhere they go we will go, and we will clarify the message that we will not back down.
We will do actions that entail (but are not limited to):
(Note:the "not limited to" portion are their words, not mine)( and what the hell does that mean anyways? )
Whatever you feel will non-violently get the job done.
(Non-violence to this style of activists means not intending to injure people. Property, such as the house you live in, or the office you work in, are not off limits.)
DSEF.net will serve to provide the resources needed for individuals to take these critical actions into their own hands.
(Resources such as what??? Cash? Info? Blueprints? Survailince? Safe houses? Last I checked you were still a bust if you were driving the getaway car.)
If Texas law and lawmen are anything like the rumors and stories Iv'e heard over the years, I have a feeling that DSEF! is in for a surprise.

has any of the likely suspects owned up and coaimed responsability for the brush fires that are burning rural homes in southern california
1- It was close to 60 million dollars that Hurwitz raided
2- It was 1.6 billion dollars he borrowed from taxpayers
3- What about some current facts... like that EPIC has recently sued them for logging illegally, and the district attorney of Humboldt is in the process of suing them for fraud...
4- How do you consider impact being made on this issue due to an empty Houston house that is either being re-modeled or the family has moved to another expensive home.
Last I checked the forest is still being mutilated. People are still suffering. Activists are still being sued. Coho salmon and marbeled murrelet are still endangered.

I guess I will continue to respond in (quotes)
1- It was close to 60 million dollars that Hurwitz raided
(From the pension fund? or the savings and loan or???)
2- It was 1.6 billion dollars he borrowed from taxpayers
(again from ???) ( Like a bond measure? where did he get it from ? who loaned it ? did he pay it back? what the hell do you mean)
3- What about some current facts... like that EPIC has recently sued them for logging illegally, and the district attorney of Humboldt is in the process of suing them for fraud...
(Um, EPIC won the battle, but lost the war in this case. O.K. so they lost the battle too...ya so they paid 8 bucks for a signature, The proof will be at the voting booth)( I think he has his his own reasons for doing itthough)( But hey, they must be guilty. Because D.A.'s only go after guilty people. And how does he know who is guilty? Well the cops tell him. And the cops never arrest innocent people. Right)
4- How do you consider impact being made on this issue due to an empty Houston house that is either being re-modeled or the family has moved to another expensive home.
(because DSEF! says they made an impact in their demonstrations. Read the post)

(Last I checked PL is working under the most rigid rules in the Nation. Give me the name of another company that is under the constraints that they are.
Name one.)
(Yes activists are still being sued, duh. They broke the law. We are a land of laws. It's what protects the activists too.)
(And no matter how much you try to portray it other wise, PL is not the only reason why coho and M.M. are endangered. And PL is (again) still the most regulated timberlands in the nation. No other company is under more stringant rules.
As for the fact that people are suffering ... well, Damn, I mean, what do you want PL to do to fix that???)
