Police Protect Maxxam

by hooks (dsef [at] riseup.net)
Thirty people gathered at the home of Joshua Reiss (PR for MAXXAM corporation ). As part of Dirty South EF! weekend.
Thirty people gathered at the 2314 Wroxton home of Joshua Reiss (public relations for MAXXAM corporation ). This was the continuation of the Dirty South Earth First! campaign to hold personally accountable the executives that have made ,and currently make decisions at Maxxam to cut the last remaing old growth Redwood trees in the world, robbed the pension funds of Pacific Lumber employees for 50 Million dollars, fired union steelworkers working for Kaiser Aluminum, and robbed the U.S. taxpayers of $1.2 BILLION dollars during the Savings & Loan scandal.

Houston police targeted what they believed to be organziners of the non-violent but confrontational home demos. When people pulled up to the legal demonstation at the home. The commanding officer Sgt. J.L. Verdin bolting from his own civilian unmarked car took the law into own hand issuing statements to certain people that " I don't give a F*** what your rights are...you cannot protest here. I will arrest you and you can sue or deal with it when you get out. ", "I want YOU to leave now.." and " ...If you drive down the public street I will arrest you ". When asked what would be the charges he replied " pull over you are under arrest " and " you have no F***king rights..."
Making his intentions clear that he was going to
interpret the law...or that he could do as he please
did not deter the event from happening.
The detereminded gathering of people reminded
Josh Reiss and his neighbors where his money came from to buy his nice home and cars.

One protestor, was arbitrarily detained ,and then arrested without formal charge and taken to Central Lockup downtown.
This will not stop the campaign or the individuals
who take action. It only bolsters peoples resolve in the
face of arbitrary "laws".

About 45 minutes into the demonstration Josh
decided to leave the premisis. (Why should he have
a peaceful dayoff from ruining peples lives and the environment?) Seeing the demnstrators face to face.

This action follows a series of home demonstrations
from the Dirty South "Maxxam Weekend" of home demonstrations during which many of the executvies from Maxxscam were visited. There seems to be
some kind of impact being made as evidenced in
the apparantly completely empty 3M$ home of
Paul /Barbara Schwartz fromerly at 3 Smithdale Estates. Their home was devoid of any contents.

As the DSEF! campaign builds momentum it will be broadened to include anyone making from profit from
our destruction.
