Bay Area Activist wounded in Cancún
The date was Wednesday, Sept. 10th. It was about 2pm. The fence was down, and Indymedia photographer Karen Martin was surveying the damage, luckily without camera in hand. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a rock came straight at her (from the police side of the fence) and hit her in the glasses, at the bottom corner of her eye. As you can see from the first photo, the damage was visible within 5 minutes after the blow.
Medics from Mexico and the US helped Karen as soon as she was removed from the crowd. Karen is convalescing, looking around for sources of ice, and planning her next actions in Cancún, while trying to not blink too often.
