On June 12, 2003 at 9:30 a.m., the Budget Committee of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will decide on election-frauding, anti-tenant "mayor" Willie Brown's proposal to eliminate paid ballot arguments, a key means of reaching the workingclass voters. We need your phone calls, E-mails & faxes now to save paid ballot arguments in the SF Voter Handbook.
The excuse is the cost, but in fact, the paid ballot arguments are just 1/4 of the Voter Handbook and make it by far the best and most important election information guide, useful to everyone. Most of the Voters' Handbook consists of text of the laws being amended. When the Repeal of Rent Control, Prop R, was on the ballot in Nov. 2002, the elections department had to reprint the entire subdivision code that Willie Brown and his anti-tenant friends, like the Prop R supporters Supervisors Gavin Newsom, Tony Hall and Bevan Dufty, wanted amended. Prop R was defeated with 60% of the voters opposing it, saving the homes of the 2/3 of San Francisco voters who are tenants, and who by definition are overwhelmingly workingclass.
The Budget Committee consists of Supervisors Daly, Peskin, Maxwell, Ma & Gonzalez. This proposal should be defeated in committee.
Regardless of your district, you can and must call all the supervisors as they all vote on the budget. They all have voice mail so you can leave message at any time. They all also have fax and E-mail.
