POLICE VIOLENCE AT Santa Cruz CRITICAL MASS!!
Santa Cruz Critical Mass on Friday, May 30th
whilst peacefully riding down california street (between 60 and 80 cyclists)
two motorcycle cops singled out a rider, cutting off several other cyclists in
the process. "Blue Beard" was pulled off his bike and chased across bay street
to the top of Neary Lagoon. When other cyclists arrived he was face down on
the ground and badly injured. there were at lest five police around him, none
of whom would allow us to see if he was alright.
Meanwhile, the polece tried to dismount at least three more cyclists, all of
whom were doing nothing wrong!! Radio free Santa Cruz and KZSC were called and
after much debate an ambulance was paged to take Blue Beard to the hospital.

I wonder if there was a nationwide conspiracy to intimidate bicyclists among local police Friday. The questions are how and why. Perhaps the nation's independent web sites shoud be scanned for other reports.

There are reports that a local critial mass ride was ambushed by Buffalo Police today.
There are reports that a Critical Mass ride that took place today was "ambushed" by Buffalo Police on its route. Initial reports are that some 75-100 bicyclists took part in a Critical Mass ride late this afternoon.
At some point, Buffalo Police descended on the group, reports to BIMC indicate that some 30 arrests have taken place, including one local alternative journalist, reportedly for biting off the finger of a Buffalo police officer.
None of these reports have yet been confirmed. Please Check center column and the newswire for further updates as the information becomes available.

Okay, Michael Niman, reporter of Artvoice was arrested. Police hurt their fist when punching it into Mike's helmet. That was the only injury I am aware of happening to police officers. There ere several assaults by police (ie banging heads against police cars, and baton beating of bikers) taking place.
One final note from Chuck Richardson: Niman is an outspoken progressive writer on iternational, national and local Buffalo issues.
He is, perhaps, Buffalo's leading alternative voice and is a political science professor at Buffalo State College.
