On April 12, 2003, 121 inmates escaped from the Franco da Rocha juvenile detention cente in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Police used helicopters and dogs to search the area for the escaped youth. Three days later, on Tuesday, April 15, after 65 inmates had been recaptured, the detained youth staged a brief rebellion inside the centre.
