4/23-Rally to Save Public Services and Jobs in San Francisco

by jc
SEIU Locals 250, 535, and 790 are holding a rally wednesday at City Hall as part of their campaign to achieve a balanced solution to the cities budget crisis.
On Wednesday, April 23rd, at 5pm in front of City Hall, SEIU Locals 250, 535, and 790 will be holding a rally in support of their efforts to acheive a fair and equitable solution to the cities current budget crisis. Currently the city of San Francisco has a deficit of $150 million. In an effort to close those gaps the city has asked all the unions with which it has contracts with to take a 7.5% pay reduction across the board. Meanwhile, as the city slashes pay and benefits for lower wage workers it has hired some 120 new employees in the past few months who make with salaries of at least $90,000 a year. Does that sound like justice to you?
SEIU Locals 250, 535, and 790 collectivelly represent the a largest amount of public workers in this city. They range from Nurses at Laguna Honda to workers at Parks and Rec to the 911 dispachers. The work that these men and women do is critical to people of this city. We all use the services that they provide.
Come out and show your support for the working men and women of this city.
