Defense secretary Rumsfeld emphasized his complete confidence in Franks – even before inquiry completed: “We are lucky to have him.”
Pentagon chief adviser Perle declares France is no longer American ally and must be contained in order to save NATO. Perle dismissed Germany’s anti-war stand as the aberration of “a discredited chancellor”.

Yes, I guess that's far worse than a President that rented out the White House and got blow jobs from interns while lighting a joint.

Word from inside the Pentagon is that Franks is a reluctant warrior and is opposed to the machinations of Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz, therefore he must go, and without a reason otherwise acceptable, then as usual the anti humans will invoke a scandal.
Scandal is how people in position are managed, controlled and manipulated. Everyone has skeletons that can be hauled out and rattled when they get uppity.
