Logging Continues on Gypsy Mt. through heavy storms.

Gypsy Mt., the place where forest defender David "Gypsy' Chain was killed by an enraged logger in 1998, is now under assault by Maxxam/PL's logging contractors and has been for the past several weeks. Loggers have been cutting almost non-stop through intense, record-breaking storms and they're still at it.
The loggers, unable to use the roads due to the heavy rain, have been relying on helicopters to get up to the ridge.

The "Aradia" tree-village is located at the very top of Gypsy Mt. "Aradia" is a giant old-growth redwood that was occupied off and on until January of last year when new platforms were built in "Aradia" and surrounding trees to create a tree village. Since then tree-sitters have been occupying the village non-stop.

Almost every day, since logging began in the area, the valleys formed by Grizzly creek and the Van Duzen River have been filled with the sounds of chainsaws running and giant trees thundering down. As of yet the loggers are not cutting near "Aradia" , however that might change any day.

Donations of wool clothes, rain gear, sleeping bags and other outdoor gear would be appreciated. Also, food, money, and digital video camera(s) are needed.
We also encourage anyone who is interested to come and take a shift in the tree-village.

"Shining Light " must be another way to spell "Shunka".
We haven't heard from you in a while.
Good to see your still figuring out a way to get your name out there!
by Shining Light
"Shining Light" is one of the named defendants in the newest Maxxam/PL SLAPP suit, this one filed specifically against tree-sitters, ground supporters, and people tabling and fundraising. This new SLAPP suit is Maxxam/PL latest attempt at scaring the people into not resisting their liquidation logging practices, and represents yet another violation of people's rights to resist unlawful business and corporate piracy.
Don't you know that Shunka has been up in Aradia, risking life and limb to save a grove that should have been made part of the Gypsy Memorial to begin with?
Aradia, a tree that Gypsy was helping to defend, just a week before he was murdered by an enraged Maxxam/PL logger? Maxxam/PL has been well-informed of the significance of Aradia, and still has not shown any signs of willingness to RESPECT David's life and death, and has left us with a downed tree and a plaque in a 2nd growth(at best) grove right by the highway. Aradia would be a living memorial to Gypsy, and represents what he was living for, before he had his life ripped away from him and his family, and should be made part of the Gypsy Memorial, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. You cheapen and dishonor yourselves by demanding money for Aradia, just so you know.
So, then, is "Shining Light" your pseudonym for Shunka? Is that Maxxam/PL's way of naming Shunka without him knowing it? I'm sure he would be delighted to know that he's been named on yet another SLAPP suit...how much money is Maxxam/PL going to waste pursuing these SLAPP suits?
Don't you realize that you will never see a dime from anyone? What a waste of money for you...
With people losing their jobs and homes with PL, how does it make you feel to know that PL is throwing away thousands of dollars in frivolous lawsuits against people who will never pay them a penny?
Wouldn't it make more sense to save the last of the remaining Old Growth and adopt sustainable forestry practices? It would be better for everyone, and you know it...would you rather be slaves for Charles Hurwitz your whole lives? Slavery is also a state of mind, and as long as you continue to believe and repeat the company lines, you are living in slavery.
And every time you base your arguments on private property, you ARE perpetuating the genocide that was carried out on this land...it's like spewing anti-Semetic slurs...so you should think about where you are and how you got there.
Also realize that it's never too late to change course....
And remember, the Shining Light is always within; are you willing to allow your light to shine, or are you willing to let the red, white, and blue to make dead the light in you? Coporate industrial civilization wants to make everyone a slave for the dollar; are you willing to sell your life? Your conscience? Your spirit?
Open your eyes, and see what Maxxam/PL has done to Humboldt Co. Open your ears, and hear the cries of the people. Open your heart, and realize that we are for the workers, and for sustainable jobs and the environment. Open your mouth, and speak only the truth, and watch the truth deconstruct the corrupt power structures, which are based on lies and foundationally weak. Open your mind, and realize how much brain-poisoning and conditioning we have to overcome to become Clear.
And remember, Shining Light, always within...
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
