UN: No gunbattle at time UNWRA worker killed
An UNWRA spokesman in Geneva said Tuesday that agency worker Iain Hook was killed
in Jenin last week by a single shot to the back, at a time when there was no army operation
in the area, reports Israel Radio.
The spokesman said that an investigation into the circumstances of Hook's death has been
opened at the UN in New York, but that several elements are already clear at this time:
- Hook was killed by a single bullet to the back, while standing in the UNRWA Jenin
compound.
- There was no other gunfire or army activity of any kind at the time.
It was reported last week, based on preliminary results of the IDF's own investigation, that
Hook was killed by two soldiers because he held an object they mistook for for a pistol.
The army emphasized that the UNRWA compound is used by terrorists to fire on soldiers
in the area.

"Hook was killed by two soldiers because he held an object they mistook for for a pistol"
-Translation: He was talking on a cell phone so they pretended that they were confused and thought the phone was a gun.
As punishment for the murder of a UN official, Israel's supporters in congress are trying to cut off aid to UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency). That is, they are punishing the agency that Iain Hook worked for.
Imagine if Iraq murdered one of the UN weapons inspectors and the reaction of the US government. Bombs would be falling from US jet fighters on Iraqi civilians within a half an hour.
Testimony from Irish activist Caoimhe Butterly: AUDIO
According to Butterly (from the above audio) one child was shot in the left eye and the bullet exited the back of his skull. This is an Israeli tactic. They aim for the eyes of children because this is rarely reported -- just another injury. This "injury" however will leave this child blind and possibly brain damaged.
Below is a picture of a Palestinian girl shot in the eye.
Another child in the report was shot in the knee cap. This was all a typical day in the Occupied Territories except for the killing of the UN worker who was "caught in a crossfire" -- Israeli speak the media uses for someone openly killed by the Israeli military.
