Folks are needed to help assemble about 300 pcs and macs to ship to Ecuador. The Location is ACCRC, 5725 International Blvd, Oakland. This is short bus ride from Fruitvale Bart. By car take High St. Exit from 880.
I spent some time today at Alameda County Computer Resource Center to learn more about the computers to Ecuador IMC project. I did a video interview with Evan, who is organizing this project.

Basically, about 300 pentium 100-300 mhz computers are being prepared to ship to the Ecuador IMC. From there they will distributed throughout Latin America.

Evan is also working on getting equipment donations for a wireless net in quito, ecuador to connect activist groups to a high speed internet connection operated by a non-profit ISP.

ACCRC turns out to be really cool. They helped with computers for the Ruckus Tech workshop, are providing all these computers for Latin American progressives, and provide space for a Low Power FM station broadcasting to East Oakland on 93.7 and the world at

Mostly they provide computers to local non-profits and schools.

They provide jobs and training for folks to learn about computers.

They recycle, one way or another, just about every scrap material that comes to them.

For more info about the ecuador project, contact Evan at: evan [at]
