you are an illustration of the hate we activists seek to change.

Are you kidding. There is not an ounce of peace anywhere in SJP. Most do not preach non-violence. You will hear them condem Israel but justify suicide bombers. Thank God Berkeley has finally realized that they are just an extension of the organizations in Palestine that would rather exterminate the Jews. Even the city council has finally voted down their anti-Semetic propoganda. Peace cannot exist with groups like SJP.

The comments above attacking students for justice in Palestine are the rantings of a fanatic minority. It is telling that the recent rallies in support of Palestine have drawn an ethnic cross section of america. In Washington DC, at least 75,000 of all backgrounds, white, black, jew, muslim, christian and non-believer all came together to demand an end to the occupation.

When Zionists gather, it is just them. And their fanaticism is mind-boggling. American Zionists are worse than the Israelis. At least 30% of Israelis think Sharon is too much. Among American supporters of Israel, not even a peep of protest regarding his clear war crimes.

The students at Berkeley are showing a level of commitment and decency the Zionists know nothing about. They are comfortable bullying the weak, taking arms shipments and spewing anti-Arab nonsense. Among those criticizing Israel are Jews, anti-Semitism is not tolerated (in my fairly wide experience with the issue) and justice is urged for all.

The difference is obvious and will only grow with time. Those criticizing Israel are growing by the day, while its defenders become more isolated. Palestine will win.

Keep it up you guys,

It's interesting that a white guy in this crowd picture comes from privileged weath, that he basically rejects all white culture, only dates women of color, and just about spits when he sees the American flag, and yet he carries around a flag that is from a country that kills innocents as he claims the USA does. And meanwhile, he lets his wealthy white family pay for his education and his life (he doesn't work) and the privilege he is so disgusted about is the reason for his ability to participate in such a rally. Hypocrite? Activism for fashion?

And this is bad, why?

The only person I know who was involved with the Students for Justice in Palestine had the last name Goldberg. She is a longtime activist and educator and can only be called a decent person. She was arrested during the occupation of Wheeler Hall.

Students for Justice in Palestine has quite a few Jewish members. I also know from my own recent college experience that Jews (at least among white students) are among the most outspoken against Israel.

I also went to SJP's website and talked with people who attended their conference. Not a single sign of anti-Jewish sentiment. In fact they clearly condemn it and say bigots are not welcome in their organization or at their events.

Same with the recent 100,000 strong demo in Washington DC. I spotted exactly two anti-Jewish signs and heard one implicitly anti-Jewish chant ("Israel out of washington" at the AIPAC conference.) The chant was taken up by only one group of about 50 protesters. There were several thousand present.

The two signs I saw that were anti-Jewish used the old bullshit about Jews running the media and secret governent shit. In one of these cases I saw other protesters arguing with the guy with the sign.

This is out of tens of thousands of people. Not one speaker from the stage or demand of the marches was in any way critical of the Jewish people. Many speakers talked about how their own experience as Jews led them to understand how racially exclusionary states were to the detriment of all.

Those who are calling critics of the Israeli state "anti-Semites" are creating anti-Semites. You are the ones. If you say that those who oppose racial states are against jews, and all the major Jewish organizations chime in with this nonsense, people will decide to be against Jews. That is, unless they have strong politics that help them understand why the fact that every Jewish organization supporting Sharon doesn't mean that all Jews support Sharon or that he represents all Jews.

The right is destroying the spirit of the Jewish people. The sooner we take care of that, and the perversions of Zionsim, the sooner we'll all move on as one human race.
by A little bird
If you forget to apply your high expectations to both sides, you may find yourself helping to perpetuate their war instead of stopping it...
by A Jewish Student, thank you
Opposing racial states is fine. Opposing the Jewish racial state but not the arab/muslim/chinese/korean/hindu/pakistani/etc/etc/etc. is not fine.

SJP and many other groups who so indignantly oppose Israel are comprised of Arabs and religious muslims who have no problem with a muslim state. This is anti-semitism. And those who purport to be in support of justice need to speak out against it.

Just as racism is not just a matter of hurling epithats, but rather it is a systematic and structural issue, so too is the condemnation of the Jewish state accompanied by a silence when it comes to other states based on religion, race, or nationality.

When i see a Students for Justice in Pakistan spring up on the Cal campus, i will believe folks when they say anti-zionism is not anti-semitism. Until then, if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, then maybe it is a duck.
by Jew Student
In regards to the members of SJP, my previous post made it sound like i believe SJP is only arab or religious muslim. That isn;t the case, but the racial/ethnic/religious make up of the group is irrelevant. I don;t belive in tokenism. A black man supporting affirmative action netither lends credibility to or takes away from the concept, and a jew in SJP neither lends credibility to their argument nor detracts from it.

I'm against all theocracies -- Muslim, Christian, Jewish, whatever. And that's what Israel is, a theorcratic state. It's hilarious hearing liberals defend Israel in light of this fact.

Sure, there are some who've come out against the billions that the USA gives to it's proxy, Israel, who could sharpen their critique. I'm for seeing all the states in the Mid East overthrown. Bush et al don't want that to happen, whatever they may say about democracy blah blah blah. Most are little more than US clients -- as was Saddam Hussein for years.

Anyone who is fair-minded and looks at the facts knows that Hamas-style suicide bombings serve Sharon's interests. In fact, Israel helped Hamas get on it's feet in the 80's. This is documented. Why did they do it? For the same reason that the US government supported asinine groups like the United Slaves in the 60s -- to divide and discredit.

Under Barak -- the allegedly leftist former Israeli president whom brain-dead Zionists and rightists say "gave away too much" to the Palestineans -- settlements increased dramatically. The Oslo Accord was a fraud that granted the Palestineans a bantustan state of non-contiguous cantons for the PLO to administer as a "neo-colonial dependency", in the words of an ex-Labor party theorist. Arafat is a corrupt little weasel but he knows he'd be overthrown if he were to depict Oslo as a win.

And the settlements continue.

One last thing: did you hear that Le Pen supports Israel? Tells you something. So did Nixon -- an anti-semite, par excellance. If pro-Zionists want to hunt for Jew haters maybe they should start investigating their own bunk-mates.

I am accused of maybe to helping further the conflict by applying "high moral standards." Well, my taxes are furthering the war. All those bombs and shells dropped on the occupied territories were made in the USA. The military grade bulldozers used to destroy houses are produced in Peoria, Illinois. The Israeli state wouldn't last 5 years without US aid and support. So, by doing nothing I contribute to death.

So I must do something. And yes, I do apply the same standards to all regimes. What is so fascinating to me is that my government sends money to all the sides. To the Egyptians, the Saudis, the Kuwaitis, the Israelis, the Turks and so on. I want us to disengage and help de-militarize the region. US meddling has contributed to hundreds of thousands of deaths in the region and that is enough.

And again, for those calling SJP anti-Jewish despite the significant presence of non-Zionist Jews, I would like to see some evidence of this. Otherwise you are slandering people and dialogue is impossible. Show me a leaflet. Show me a video of a speech that attacks Jews. Show me a demand that is anti-Jewish. Because I haven't seen it. As a Jew I have been welcome and embraced.

If you come as a brother you will get love. If you come as an occupier you will get war.

In fact, I have experienced exactly the opposite from Jewish organizations. Chants like "No Arabs, No Terror" and widespread JDL intimidations and death threats here in New York are deep to me. When Jews start acting like Brown Shirts, it is a disgrace.

Adam Shapiro, a New York Jew who is active in the International Solidarity movement and has lived in Ramallah for 2 years says he is more concerned with Jewish American wingnuts than the IDF. His parents had to move from their home under threat of death in Brooklyn after the Kahane-types spread personal information and encouraged violence.

So, I am a "traitor" for supporting an end to racial states. I think traitor is a term for Zionists who keep company with Christian fundamentalists and anti-Semites (Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed, LePen) just because they love Israel. It is a disgrace.

It is now coming to the point where there is a clear intellectual divide between supporters of Israel and supporters of the Palestinian resistance. It also seems that the numbers are more even than before and getting larger in favor of the Palestinian cause. If I were a Christian I would be inclined to believe the Bible prophesies that say the end of the world will come when the nation of Israel is reborn and some temple in Jerusalem is rebuilt after it gets destroyed. I could see a bomb destroying some temple and a new one built to symbolize the "strength" of the Jewish state just as Americans are eager to do with the WTC towers to symbolize the strength of the US. It seems like that could simply be a matter of time. Then the antichrist would come and convince the world that Israel (and the US) are the saviors of all that is good. Most will follow and a few will resist. This would be followed by Judgement Day. Sometimes I have to wonder... If this is the case then the Zionist Jews and their supporters are the bad guys deceiving the world and sleeping with the devil just like the ancient Jews did with Jesus. Of course, this is mythology if you are an atheist or a person of reason. What's disturbing is that the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims all believe in the same god and in the same line of thought. How can so many billions of people believe so fervently in such blatant stupidity? From Einstein to Sharon, from the girl next door to Bush, from a Palestinian to an Israeli? It boggles the mind. Or, could it be that the Bible is the word of God and Jesus was his messenger and his prophesies will come true? Or, that Jesus was simply a misguided rabbi and false prophet that according to Jewish law should be put to death, and only the Torah, the Tanach and the Sanhedrin are to be trusted as God's (YHWH's)word and will. Or, that Jesus was indded a prophet but no more than another prophet in a line of prophets ending with the Muhammad revealing the final word of God (Allah) in the Koran? Who's to say? And to think that these are the excuses for war and conquest. A fucked up world indeed. The Truth dissapears among all this rubish and all that is left is lunatics willing to kill their fellow men in the name of God and country. It is these ridiculous beliefs that make people like Kissinger recommed that inducing "exhorbitant pain" on the enemy is the only solution. Some do it for money but most do it for some ill-founded belief in fantasy and mythology, reward in Heaven and salvation from Hell. Who is right? Your people are, of course.

Justice? What this article shows is disgusting. this is antisemitism plain and simple. san francisco U. should be cut off from all academic contact until action is taken to protect Jewish students and restrain these Hatemongers.

Freedom and Justice will always prevail. Keep up your work and don't be discouraged. Most of the world's largest movements have started at this stage and have made a grand difference.

I am a Jew who has survived the Holocaust. It is sad that the injustice that we once endured, we now inflict. May one day we all live in peace. Hopefully, your efforts here will lead to enough awareness that eventually leads to action that brings about peace. It happend in South Africa. May it also happen here. Unfortunately, my country hasn't yet learned that the independent state they so dearly request cannot be built on another's suffering.

I wonder if the kid holding the sign quoting Gandhi realizes the sheer irony of using the words of the father of nonviolent protest to support people who made terrorism a diplomatic tool. No, obviously not. He is just another one of the many ignorant college students fighting for a cause he has barely researched. Ignorance is admissable as along as you take the dated words of historical figures out of context to bolster a cause they probably would have detested (if they were alive today).

From Larry Miller, He said it best. "A brief overview of the situation is always valuable, so as a service to all Americans who still don't get it, I now offer you the story of the Middle East in just a few paragraphs, which is all you really need. Don't thank me. I'm a giver." Here we go: The Palestinians want their own country. There's just one thing about that: There are no Palestinians. It's a made up word. Israel was called Palestine for two thousand years. Like "Wiccan," "Palestinian" sounds ancient but is really a modern invention. Before the Israelis won the land in war, Gaza was owned by Egypt, and there were no "Palestinians" then, and the West Bank was owned by Jordan, and there were no "Palestinians" then. As soon as the Jews took over and started growing oranges as big as basketballs, what do you know, say hello to the "Palestinians," weeping for their deep bond with their lost "land" and "nation." So for the sake of honesty, let's not use the word "Palestinian" any more to describe these delightful folks, who dance for joy at our deaths until someone points out they're being taped. Instead, let's call them what they are: "Other Arabs Accomplish Anything In Life And Would Rather Wrap Themselves In The Seductive Melodrama Of Eternal Struggle And Death." I know that's a bit unwieldy to expect to see on CNN. How about this, then: "Adjacent Jew-Haters." Okay, so the Adjacent Jew-Haters want their own country. Oops, just one more thing. No, they don't. They could've had their own country any time in the last thirty years, especially two years ago at Camp David. But if you have your own country, you have to have traffic lights and garbage trucks and Chambers of Commerce, and, worse, you actually have to figure out some way to make a living. That's no fun. No, they want what all the other Jew-Haters in the region want: Israel. They also want a big pile of dead Jews, of course-that's where the real fun is-but mostly they want Israel. Why? For one thing, trying to destroy Israel-or "The Zionist Entity" as their textbooks call it-for the last fifty years has allowed the rulers of Arab countries to divert the attention of their own people away from the fact that they're the blue-ribbon most illiterate, poorest, and tribally backward on G-d's Earth, and if you've ever been around G-d's Earth, you know that's really saying something. It makes me roll my eyes every time one of our pundits waxes poetic about the great history and culture of the Muslim Mideast. Unless I'm missing something, the Arabs haven't given anything to the world since Algebra, and, by the way, thanks a hell of a lot for that one. Chew this around and spit it out: Five hundred million Arabs; five million Jews. Think of all the Arab countries as a football field, and Israel as a pack of matches sitting in the middle of it. And now these same folks swear that if Israel gives them half of that pack of matches, everyone will be pals. Really? Wow, what neat news Hey, but what about the string of wars to obliterate the tiny country and the constant din of rabid blood oaths to drive every Jew into the sea? Oh, that? We were just kidding. My friend Kevin Rooney made a gorgeous point the other day: Just reverse the numbers. Imagine five hundred million Jews and five million Arabs. I was stunned at the simple brilliance of it. Can anyone picture the Jews strapping belts of razor blades and dynamite to themselves? Of course not. Or marshalling every fiber and force at their disposal for generations to drive a tiny Arab state into the sea? Nonsense. Or dancing for joy at the murder of innocents? Impossible. Or spreading and believing horrible lies about the Arabs baking their bread with the blood of children? Disgusting. No, as you know, left to themselves in a world of peace, the worst Jews would ever do to people is debate them to death. Mr. Bush, G-d bless him, is walking a tightrope. I understand that with vital operations coming up against Iraq and others, it's in our interest, as Americans, to try to stabilize our Arab allies as much as possible, and, after all, that can't be much harder than stabilizing a roomful of supermodels who've just had their drugs taken away. However, in any big-picture strategy, there's always a danger of losing moral weight. We've already lost some. After September 11 our president told us and the world he was going to root out all terrorists and the countries that supported them. Beautiful. Then the Israelis, after months and months of having the equivalent of an Oklahoma City every week (and then every day) start to do the same thing we did, and we tell them to show restraint. If America were being attacked with an Oklahoma City every day, we would all very shortly be screaming for the administration to just be done with it and kill everything south of the Mediterranean and east of the Jordan. (Hey, wait a minute, that's actually not such a bad id . . . uh, that is, what a horrible thought, yeah, horrible.)" Get a clue folks.. JS

In the beginning was the word and the word was God and has remained one of the mysteries ever since. The word was God and then the word became flesh. The flesh became man. When Eve was in Adam, a bisexual hemaphrodite death did not exist, but when she separated from him death came into being. To repair the separation which was from One - the beginning - the two must be united. The people of Israel were kept in continual terror and deprived of all human resemblance by their Egyptian oppressors. A great evil pestilence arrived in Egypt to decimate both the young and the old, the weak and the strong. The young Egyptian Prince Mossa often wandered alone in the desert. The Burning Bush denotes the state of grace imparted to a being who has reached a crucial level of inner accomplishment, when he can be given responsibility. The King of Egypt ordered Prince Mossa to take all of the slaves of the Jewish race out of Egypt into the desert. He led them back into the land of milk and honey which they had lost by their many sins, and he gave them laws to live by. The Kingdom of Israel became the most powerful of all the earth, and a long peace reigned.

Did you guys hear about the monkey that decided he was going to use his knowledge of not-so-passive resistance and bite a cop?

"UC police Officer Billy Brashear, a member of the special response unit, was the officer allegedly bitten by Hernandez."

'"It hurt really bad," he said.'

http://www.co-star.org/protesttrial.html

Hahahha, I wonder how a psychologist would characterize this looney? Malnourished, possibly feral, human? I'd say the school puts something in the cafeteria food, or possibly they have an Ethnic Studies course at Berkeley on "Not So Passive Resistance". Hahaha.

First of all, all the people who claim to be fighting for Human rights, the so-called liberals, need to get their head re examined. Instead of carpet bombing the refugee camps which are filled with terrorists who bring up their children from the cradle and teach them to hate jews and kill them, the Brave IDF army sends in their best troops and puts the soldiers in danger just to spare arab civilian casualties. IDF is the most humane and moral army in the world, and there is no doubt about it. If you disagree, find another army which sacrifices its own to spare civilians.

The settlements: Jews have a right to live anywhere they choose to, and denying them that right is blatant anti-semitism. The palestinians will not be under curfews if there were no suicide bombings, so once they will put down their arms, there will be peace. IF not, then they will continue to live out their miserable lives in poverty. ISRAEL will NEVER give in to terror!!!
