SF's shelves are its vacant and semi-vacant lots. With a 30% vacancy rate in the commercial downtown, and with heaps of residential parcels impervious to the market demand for their employment, there's a crying need to restock SF's shelves with non-tech businesses and workaday renters. How to do it?
Come along on this walking tour positing that the footprint of the USA is "the frontier." If only the conquistadors and George Washingtons weren't permitted to call it their own without first and annually paying the rest of us to stay off what rightfully is ours too--the footprint of the USA--we'd find out mighty soon just how under-used are the pueblo lands of our city. Pelosi and Lurie and their bankrolling governing board of land owners would start recruiting every renter they could if the land value of the land no longer functioned as private income or leverage equity, but instead filled the community chest.
Loads of stories tracing San Francisco's frontier 19th century sand lots to bank vaults history . . . with relevance to today!
