Protect the Vote Interfaith Gathering and March

The First Unitarian Church of Oakland and Genesis are hosting an Interfaith gathering, march, and rally on Nov. 4th from 10 AM - Noon. We will gather at the plaza of the First Unitarian Church for reflection and song, then march to the Federal Building a few blocks away where we will rally with Clergy and People of Faith. The following speakers have been confirmed: Rev. BK Woodson: Bay Area Christian Connection; Rabbi David Cooper: Kehilla Synagogue; and Pastor Jacqueline Duhart- Starr King School for the Ministry.

The following themes guide this gathering:

- Clergy and people of faith have moral authority! We should use it.
- The election might be over, but we must resist efforts to nullify the results and get ready now for interference in the next election!
- The violence and cruelty of ICE arrests is increasing in California. We need to organize as People of Faith and Clergy to resist!
- We can recuperate and recharge, and we need to continue to organize with Clergy and People of Faith to be present, reaching out to the media, and be ready to show up when called upon by our faith leaders.
- We are only as strong as our connectedness to each other through our churches, synagogues, temples and other faith communities.
