California SEIU 1000 Members To Strike On October 21

California SEIU 1000 Worker To Strike On October 21

SEIU Local 1000 members voted to authorize an Unfair Practice Strike in response to the State’s alleged bad-faith bargaining. And for the first time in our union’s history, we will go on strike. The strike will take place on Wednesday, October 21.
Find a strike line below and prepare to take action.

THE STATE IS TRYING TO BLOCK OUR STRIKE — WE’RE HOLDING THE LINE
You may have seen reports that CalHR is trying to stop our October 21 Unfair Practice Strike. The State is afraid of the collective power of 100,000. That’s why it’s trying to stop our October 21 Unfair Practice Strike.
CalHR has filed a request for injunctive relief with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), seeking to block or restrict the strike. The filing itself does not stop our strike.
Our Legal Department is actively defending our right to strike. PERB is reviewing the essential-staffing issue and will determine how many employees must work during the strike to protect public health and safety.
Our October 21 Unfair Practice Strike plans remain in place, and preparations are moving forward at full speed. We will keep members informed of any developments that affect their participation.
We know our rights. We know our power. We are STRIKE READY.
