Nine fired Namibian Rossing uranium miner union leaders are still fighting to get their jobs back. The Chinese company China National Uranium Corporation (CNUC) illegally fired them and has been stalling them in for years. They now have an arbitration hearing on October 6 & 7th. The company following their firing subcontracted out most of the mining jobs to Chinese owned subcontracting company Beifang with now operates the mine paying lower wages, healthcare benefits and with more dangerous health and safety conditions.

The Beifang Mining and Technology Service company has been used by the Rossing uranium mine owned by China National Uranium Corporation (CNUC) and the Husab uranium mine owned by Guangdong Nuclear Power Holding Corporation to bust the unions by contracting out their jobs.

The entire union leadership of one of the most important uranium mines in Namibia were fired by the China National Uranium Corporation (CNUC) in 2020 and then started mass layoffs and turning over the mine to the union buster Beifang Mining Technology Services. These workers are still fighting for their jobs back.

China National Uranium Corporation (CNUC) has stalled the labor arbitration process for over 6 years in order to starve the Rossing miners out. They protested at a labor tribunal hearing but the SWAPO government has been captured by these Chinese investors and they have been allowed to flagrantly violate labor law and bust unions and prevent unionization at mines throughout the country.
