An international panel was held on the issue of China, the working class and the African working class struggle. Speakers talked about the unions in China, the role of China in South Africa and labor.

In a panel titled Labour Changes from China To Africa, Manny Ness author of Dialectics of Chinese Labour and Luke Sinwell, author of African Labour Liberation presented talks on their books. They were joined by Trevor Ngwana, Au Loong Yu and others.
This panel was sponsored by the Center For Social Change at the University of Johannesburg and was held on 9/26/26.

Chinese workers are working for multi-nationals in China like Foxconn and face slave like conditions that have led to large number of suicides. Independent unions are crushed by the Chinese government which only approves unions that are affiliated to unions that are part of the government.

There are and have been labor actions in China. They are censored out of social media and blocked from reaching other workers. The taxi drivers are being replace by autonomous vehicles that will eliminate millions of jobs. This massive introduction of AI and robotics will escalate the economic crisis in China.

Hundreds of thousands of Chinese workers are now in South Africa and the rest of Africa. They are being used when African workers can do the same work. Most of the investment of China in Africa is for ports and railroads for resource extraction of raw materials.
