Webinar: Stand with Sudan, End Canadian Complicity

Date:
Saturday, September 19, 2026
Time:
11:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Event Type:
Panel Discussion
Organizer/Author:
World Beyond War
Location Details:

Over the past year, the Canadian government has undertaken aggressive efforts to strengthen and expand economic ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while it directly enables the genocidal Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan. The Canadian government cannot escape the reality that continuing to arm and deepen economic ties with the UAE means deepening complicity in one of the most devastating conflicts and genocides of the twenty-first century.

Join us on Saturday September 19 at 11am PT for a panel and movement organizing call facilitated by organizers with the Sudan Solidarity Collective and World BEYOND War to learn about what's happening on the ground in Sudan, about the UAE's role in fueling the violence, and how to take action to demand Canada end all complicity in the catastrophic war and genocide in Sudan.

We will hear from Sudanese speakers Dr. Iman Ahmed, Rania El Mugammar, and Ismail Adam to learn about the UAE’s role in the counter-revolutionary war and genocide in Sudan, the impacts of the war on civilians, and how we can build action for Sudan into our daily movement practices on Turtle Island.

We will also hear from Palestinian movement organizer Yara Shoufani to hear more about Canada’s complicity in the extractive neocolonial violence holding the people of Sudan hostage and what advocacy for an arms embargo and trade justice can look like. We will discuss next steps and how we can take action together to end the flow of Canadian weapons and dollars to genocide.
