(San Francisco, September 8) - In 1988 the US signed the Geneva Convention on Genocide, forty years after its inception and with explicit reservations. They never signed the Convention on the Rights of Children. The reservations provided that the convention would not apply to one of the largest genocides in human history, the slaughter of millions and destruction of the native civilizations on the lands that became the United States.

Trump is not an outlier. What we now call ethnic cleansing is as American as apple pie and part of the national experience. Trump is on solid ground in the belief that America became “great”, i.e., wealthy, from the theft and the lands and disposition of millions from a vast continent.

For Trump, the immigration of the descendants of native population from other areas of the continent consists of the reappearance of those supposedly eliminated. Trump’s “immigration” policy is simply the resumption of the genocide, now updated to eliminate the newly arrived “indians”. A policy very much in line with the history of the Europeans on this continent since 1492.

This has also to do with the difficulty virtually all previous Presidents have had in separating from the Zionist Israeli experience, also involving the destruction of local populations.

The attack on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is yet another skirmish in the resumption of the genocide.

Yesterday some protested, Latino communities and High School Students. A couple of hundred people. They made speeches, sang songs and decorated the pavement with slogans. Ongoing protests are planned.
