Rally At SF Kaiser To Stop AI Chatbots In Hospitals ICE Out & Single Payer

On Labor Day weekend September 4, 2026 a rally was held at San Francisco Kaiser hospital to demand that Chatbots stop being used to replace healthcare clinicians and nurses, Speakers also demanded an end to ICE raids and termination of nurses and other healthcare workers who are losing DACA and other immigration rights under the fascist Trump government. Also part of what was a national day was for single payer and against privatization of the VA.
Rallies were held in New Orleans, New York and Iowa. Both the NNU CNA and NUHW are demanding the protection against the unregulated use of AI in Kaiser and also the use of AI to eliminate workers. Kaiser is now laying off nurses and cutting the hours of mental health clinicians and replacing them with chatbots.
Kaiser which has more than $63 billion in the bank has been fined $200 million for not providing prompt appointments for mental healthcare and instead of hiring more healthcare workers they are spending millions on companies like Palantir to take over the work of nurses and human beings.
Governor Newsom and the Democratic legislature has also refused to halt the introduction of this technology unless it is investigated how it affects workers and the patients. California Gavin Newsom and the Democratic legislature which has a super majority have also refused to even discuss a single payer bill. Although you cannot get single payer without the approval of the Federal government, the Democratic chair of the Assembly
Robert Rivas refused to even allow hearing and speakers called for Labor Party and general strike to defend against ICE, the threat of fascism and to force a national single payer system in the United States.
