“No Fare Is Fair” - Transit Protest at SF City Hall

The San Francisco People’s Transit Alliance (SFPTA) protested in front of SF City Hall on Tuesday, September 1.

The group is allied with the Progressive Labor Party (PLP) and the public transit section of the EcoSocialist Working Group of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Two retired bus drivers were in attendance.

What are the goals of the group? Spokesperson Alicia DeBest listed three:

1) Increased safety and peace of mind for riders on MUNI
2) consistent policy
3) No Fare Is Fare (free transit)

The group is committed to working class issues.

The activists explained their positions via megaphone speeches, bright-colored banners, and pamphlets passed out to passersby. Future actions by the group will take place at September 12th at Salesforce 11:00am-1:00pm, and November 15th at Patricia’s Green (499 Hayes) from 10:00am-11:30pm.
