(August 22, San Francisco) - The activists began their action at the top of San Francisco’s “crookedest” street, Lombard Street, and marched the two blocks to Larkin Street where they set up a “watch party” movie “theater" complete with a screen that read “FLOCK OUT OF SF”, seating, and popcorn, in front of Larsen’s mansion.Speakers blasted the thousands of Flock surveillance being set up throughout the nation.
San Francisco police is skirting public sentiment by taking advantage of the rule that expenditures under ten million dollars do not require board of supervisor approval.
However, resistance to Flock is increasing as communities increasingly reject their use.
A well known activist reported some rejections of Flock installations in Santa Cruz.
A weather report detailing the increasing climate of surveillance was delivered.
The attendees took turns shouting amplified messages directed to Chris Larsen’s front door.
It is known that Larsen can monitor cameras directly from his home. Therefore, the group then gathered in front a camera embedded in a local tree and delivered additional message directly to Larsen both verbally and with well known hand signals.
