Stop Government Surveillance! No to Flock and ALPRs!
Thursday, August 20, 2026 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM PT
14th and Broadway, Oakland
Join us for an action Thursday, August 20th, 5:00-6:30, on Broadway and 14th St in Oakland, against Flock and all ALPRs as part of a National Week of Actions organized by DeFlock. We will be holding banners, signs, cardboard cameras with a big red X, handing out flyers and talking to passersby.
ALPRs are AI-powered cameras that capture and analyze images of all passing vehicles, storing details like your car's location, date, time, make, model, color, and identifying features. Flock is one of the largest ALPR vendors in the US, but there are many others. These cameras are a serious risk to all of us, especially the most targeted communiites. They continually record our movements - no warrant needed, or probable cause, or even reasonable suspicion. This info is then typically shared with thousands of other agencies nationwide (secretly).
End government surveillance on Oakland streets! No to Flock and all ALPRs (Automated License Plate Readers)! As the government escalates its surveillance power nationwide, targeting the most vulnerable communities: people of color, immigrants, trans folks, and more, we will gather and say “Not on Oakland’s streets; Not anywhere!”
