Press Conference and Rally

In front of SEIU 2015, SF Office,
1645 California St. SF, CA

California Homecare is facing a federal funding collapse starting next year because of Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" for the wealthy, HR1 passed last July 4, 2025.

San Francisco Labor and SEIU, worked diligently for SF Proposition "D" pouring over $10 million to the campaign, which would have aided funding in this crisis situation within the City and County of San Francisco. It lost narrowly (2.8%) in the low turn out primary June 2nd 2026.

SEIU-UHW United Healthcare Workers West received over one million and a half signatures for for the California Billionaire Tax Act to be submitted to the people of California Nov 3rd 2026.

In a recognized significant poll, 77% of Americans and 64% of Republicans support raising taxes on the extreme wealthy, to pay their share for public services, that represent a percentage of taxation that is reflective of increasing their share and approaching the percentages that working people are taxed.

Other states such as Washington State has just this year passed a millionaire tax and the governor has signed into law, transforming the state from second worst to Florida in tax equity, to one of the most equitable of states in taxation today.

US Senator Bernie Sanders and Congressman Ro Khanna CA17, have introduced National Wealth Tax legislation, and endorsed and campaigned for the California Billionaire Tax Now Prop 40.

Homecare, Nursing-Home, Food Assistance and all Healthcare workers are facing the cutting off the majority of our federal funding without an alternative such as Prop 40.

The recent authoritative California statewide poll of voters intending to vote on November 3rd shows 57% intend to vote for the Billionaire Tax Now Prop 40 and only 38% oppose the initiative.

Homecare for Prop 40, a committee of IHSS Homecare workers in San Francisco is calling on our Homecare Unions, SEIU 2015, California SEIU and AFSCME-UDW to support the measure for the funding of our members program and to enable us to continue to serve our clients at current levels assigned by needs.

Homecare for Prop 40, calls for a yes vote, and does not recognize any neutrals in this campaign. We urge a no vote on Props 41 and 42 as well.

§Why Is the SEIU 2015 Leadership Opposing The Billionaires Tax
by Homecare For Prop 40
sm_billionaires_10_richest.jpg
California has some of the wealthiest people in the world and these billionaires are getting a tax cut from the Trump government. Why would the SEIU 2015 leadership oppose a small one time tax on the billionaires in California. Homecare workers will speak out about this at the SEIU 2015 headquarters in San Francisco. The other politicians opposing the bill are Scott Weiner, SF Mayor Daniel Lurie and California governor Gavin Newsom.
§Homecare Workers Are Facing Massive Attacks On Their Living Conditions
by Homecare For Prop 40

California homecare workers who are members of SEIU 2015 and AFSCME face massive attacks on their wages and conditions. The one time small tax on billionaires Prop 40 which would fund these workers from the coming budget cuts is being opposed by the leadership of both SEIU 2015 and AFSCME who represent homecare workers. Homecare workers will be demanding that their leadership support Prop 40
