(FROM THE VAULT) Retired Street Artist Gives Comeuppance To Homeless Haters

by Snookie
In 2015, Fremont passed a brutal anti-camping ordinance. A street artist held business owners and the city accountable.

It's your girl, Snookie. I no longer live in the Bay Area, and I had secretly moved to Fremont after Xmas 2024 and stayed there for about a year before moving to an undisclosed location outside the Bay. I did return to SF/Oakland occasionally to get up, using trap houses as staging areas.

In my first months in Fremont, the local city council passed an out of pocket anti-camping ordinance that would criminalize even the mere act of aiding and abetting homeless people (like, giving them food or socks) could get a person tossed into Santa Rita along with rapists and murderers. I figured I was gonna risk getting sent to Santa Rita before those who help the homeless, and I was unhoused in my life. It is rough, and people blame it on drugs or mental health rather than society refusing to pass real rent control (why I once wrote "Fuck Costa Hawkins" on the SF Realtors office back in 2023), stingy benefits systems, lack of universal healthcare, job loss or other capitalist violence. I don't shame a homeless person for doing drugs in their tent, its rough and nobody wants to be in a tent, or even worse, in a shelter.

So, on the night of Valentines Day, while everyone but me was out on a date, I was doing what any Gen Zer down on her luck romantically, socially, and economically, would do. I was getting together my cans and making a plan to hit the businesses of several individuals in different parts of town who spoke in favor of the ordinance. They were:

-David Gutierrez, who runs DG Auto Body & Paint at 44201 S Grimmer

-Herbert Chiu, who runs Mission Palm Dentistry at 43625 Mission Boulevard

So, I spent the overnight hours hitting those establishments and other structures in between as this kitty prowled the city on foot. This spree was so epic that the next day, Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan shit his pants over it on Boomerbook.

I would also like to register my disappointment with Fremont For Everyone (the main org opposing the camping ordinance) for condemning my actions. Personally, I do not know anyone from Fremont For Everyone, and nobody from that org has ever met me before, nor will they ever know who I am. You don't need to condemn this every time some right wing politician blathers on Facebook.

A few weeks later, thanks to threats of a lawsuit and possibly to prevent us from hitting more businesses, Fremont removed the aiding and abetting part, but kept the brutal anti-homeless ordinance. I was not satisfied.

A few months later, I decided to hit Herbert Chiu's other business in Union City, Decoto Dentistry at 2701 Decoto Rd. This caused Fremont Council Member, CA Assembly failcandidate and Charlie Kirk fanboy Yang Shao to share the images of my work (thank you for that, it brought back fun memories and it promotes my art) but also to call me racist (boo!) Now, if Yang Shao would remove that crayon from his brain, he would know that, like MLK, Jr. I do not judge people by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. And Herbert Chiu and David Gutierrez's character stinks to the high heavens.

(Yang Shao also believes homeless people use crypto or something, which is a tad hard to believe)

The same overnight hours I did that was the night before the Fremont Police Department was gonna have one of their copaganda days at notoriously anti-queer chicken joint Chick Fil-A. So, I made the long walk down Mowry and at around 4am, I hit the local Chick Fil A with anti-cop and pro-LGBTQ+ slogans. I wish that the Fremont Police Department would have promoted my art; I honestly thought that they were gonna write one of them dumb snarky posts complaining about crime, as they are wont to do.

In July, after hitting Fremont City Hall, I would hit another place that would be having an FPD copaganda event, Brusters Ice Cream on Albrae. I then walked down said street to attack DG Auto Body & Paint once more, and about a half mile after Brusters, a Fremont police vehicle passed me by. They would have just seen my handiwork at Brusters, and I was dressed totally black bloc and had my cans in a black bag, but they didn't even try to investigate. After a moment of anxiety (I literally involuntarily pissed, luckily I was not wearing underwear under my LBD, so damage was minimal) and ducking behind some trucks that were on the freeway side of the road, I realized the cops had no interest in me. So then I carried on and then wrote Fuck Elon on a couple of Teslas that were on a rack truck and then hit DG for a second time. It was not as comprehensive as the last time as I noticed in the darkness someone sleeping in their truck by the business. As I left the scene and was walking back to where I was staying, I dipped into the Fremont police scanner, and apparently, they were all tied up in some copper wire theft that was happening. I laughed as I went up Technology Way and saw that some of my work hadn't been buffed. It was a successful night, I got to return to a bed in a private room, which sadly, many don't even get, and did not have to spend the rest of the night in Santa Rita.

I would only do art for a few more months before illness made me stop. I am only in my early half of my 20s and I know I am gonna die young, so I will live fast and leave a good looking corpse. Allow me to reflect for a second; Mayor Raj called my actions "cowardly intimidation". He could not be more wrong, as it takes a lot of bravery and guts to do what I and countless others do. I am lucky that I have good security culture. I don't make Insta/Facebook/Tiktok posts bragging about my crimes, a few hours before I go out, I sit in a dark room to adjust my eyes so I can more easily see cops, opps, and gangsters. I even, some months after Chesa Boudin was recalled, met with someone formerly of his office on a foggy night in a San Francisco park in a wealthy neighborhood and they advised me to mind my shoes, as they have gotten a felony conviction from just shoes. I wear a mask, and also, the only reason I post here is because I am using Tor and other security culture features I cannot discuss here.

Let this be a lesson to any government people or small business owners who think they can brutalize the lives of our unhoused neighbors. You will get some spraycan justice from the brave women, non-binary people, and men who believe another world is possible. All cops are...fucking bastards.

To all the people without homes who the system failed, we see you.
