COVID Catastrophe

by Todd A. Davis
This article summarizes some of my findings from my book
COVID-19 Catastrophe: The Problematic Response of the American
Government to the Global Pandemic
In this article I go through some of what my book "COVID-19 Catastrophe: The Problematic Response of the American Government to Global Pandemic” contains, and the relevance to healthcare public policy.

The first part of the book explains how Trump was downplaying COVID, in order to prevent the recession from worsening. The video where Trump talked about injecting "disinfectant” into the body with Dr. Birx in the background is analyzed.

One of the more interesting findings was testimony by Dr. Birx during the Biden administration that the COVID death toll could have been reduced by 40 percent. This would have required more lockdowns, PPE, and more ventilators.

The Biden American Rescue Plan (ARP) is explicated, and the COVID vaccines became widely available. The deleterious effect of both misinformation, and disinformation upon vaccine rates is also analyzed.

Over 1 million peopled died of COVID in America. We explain some of the socioeconomic data that caused such high numbers.

We look at the research of Dr. Allison Galvani of the Yale Institute for Global Health, and how single payer healthcare systems could have greatly reduced the death toll.

The second Trump administration is also analyzed. We observe how DOGE dismantled both the CDC and NIH. How RFK Jr deconstructed mRNA COVID vaccine regime, and eviscerated vital vaccine and other research.

How both the expansion of the ACA and increasing Medicaid funding could help with COVID and other afflictions--is examined. The objective would be not only to rebuild America’s healthcare systems, but also to expand programs to assist in public healthcare.
