Points Around the Bay Screenings Coming up

By Lynda Carson - March 2, 2026

Oakland - Below is the latest email I received on March 1, 2026, from my filmmaker friend and actor Rob Nilsson with an update of recent events, plus a public invitation to everybody to see a few upcoming screenings or events of his in the near future that I hope people will go to and enjoy during these grim times we find ourselves in.

This includes a film event at the Roxie, plus 4 scheduled events at Rob Nilsson Art Forms Studio in Berkeley, to be Benefits for the Faithful Fools Street Ministry and the Tenderloin Museum, in addition to an upcoming event at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center, in San Rafael.

Points Around the Bay Screenings Coming up

Hello Everybody,

Zhan's been sick for the last three days so I'm resorting to email to let you all know what's up.  After a stimulating full house on Jan.22 at the Sequoia Cinema, Mill Valley, showing ON THE EDGE AGAIN, we spent 9 nights in three weeks at the Tenderloin Museum down in the Loin hosting our 9 @ Night Feature Film series (1997-2007).

Those 9 feature films looked raw and eloquent up there on a big screen loaned by Constantine Orenchak to the Tenderloin Museum.  Alex Spoto, was our truly gifted, talented and welcoming guide to this elegant room, dedicated to the sins and sensations of a raw and rebellious old district of San Francisco.  With shades of Thelonious Monk, ribald encomiums of Annie Sprinkle, accounts of bootlegging and shifty city fathers seeking order while exhibiting questionable practices, the Museum is a must- visit when you're in town.  Great time!  And people loved our films!

Saturday we went to the Roxie Cinema for a matinee showing of SIGNAL 7.  I sat there remembering that John Cassavetes and SHADOWS led me out on a road I've never abandoned.  Dan Leegant and Bill Ackridge are Marty and Speed, two aging cabdrivers who refuse to give up the Tinseltown dream.  I'll never forget them and my first Direct Action film.   And here too we found people young and old who saw, and applauded, what we're been up to for these 50 years.

This Wednesday, March 4, at 8:00 PM we'll be back at the Roxie in San Francisco at 3117 16th St., for ON THE EDGE AGAIN featuring Bruce Dern, two time Oscar winner and much decorated film talents Pam Grier and John Marley in a movie about running which digs beneath the usual hunger for the finish line.  Join us.  You can take BART.  Or a Go Kart.  But come along.  As with the other films, already shown or to come, I'll be there to talk to the audience after the show.

The next day, Thursday March 5, is the first of four of my films to be shown on the next four consecutive Thursdays in March here at Rob Nilsson Art Forms Studio in Berkeley.  In HEAT AND SUNLIGHT, Grand Prize Winner at the Sundance Film Festival, 1988 I play the lead along with Don Bajema, Conseulo Faust and the celebrated ballet dancer, Rusty Murphy.  Mel Hurley is a burnt out war photographer from the Biafran War in a battle with sexual jealousy during the last night of a love affair.

This film, and the next 3 shown here are going to be Benefits for the Faithful Fools Street Ministry and the Tenderloin Museum.  We'll have a bucket at the door for any amount, however small, you want to donate to these two organizations.  Both have been created to help the homeless and inner city residents of San Francisco and have been particularly helpful to us both when we were making them years ago, and now when we're showing them again.

I’m also including the schedule below for our last large scale showing at the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center, 1118 4th. St., San Rafael, Sunday March 29, 12:00 Noon for THE WAY THINGS SEEM TO BE, a four hour documentary, with an intermission, about yours truly, directed by Zhan Petrov.

Remember:  if you want to come to any screening at my studio, Rob Nilsson Art Forms, send me a message at nilssoncinema [at] gmail.com and I'll reserve a seat for you and guests.

Hope to see you at any or all!

Best,

Rob
