UC Unions & Workers Protest Trump & Regents Attacks on Public Education at UC Regents Meeting

Dozens of UC trade unionists and faculty members rallied at the UC Regents meeting at UC Mission Bay Campus in San Francisco on 9/16/25 to protest the UC union busting attacks, NIH Cutbacks by Trump and also the assault on democratic rights by Trump and the UC management and regents.

Also unions have filed a class action lawsuit against the threat to shutdown funding of UC unless they agree to Trump's demands. Trump also with the support of the UC Regents and management has targeted, beaten and fired UC students, unionists and faculty over their support for Palestine.

Unions included faculty associations from from each campus as well as the UAW 4811 academic workers union, the AFSCME 3299 union and representing patient care technical and service employees — the California Nurses Association.

“Today, we join the workers of the UC in standing up against federal extortion, job loss, attacks on our students, bans on speech and expression — and against any effort to dismantle core public values that have made the UC great,” said Markowitz, the UCLA Faculty Assn. president.
