In the 1970s, Beirut’s Gaza Hospital was established as the primary medical centre at the crossroads of the Palestinian Sabra and Shatila refugee camps. Forty-three years ago, this building witnessed one of the darkest chapters in Lebanese and Palestinian history – the Sabra and Shatila massacres. Today, the war-scarred building is home to hundreds of Palestinian refugee families. Drawing on exclusive archival footage of the hospital and interviews with former hospital staff, the film chronicles the history of Palestinian refugees in Beirut and the role this monumental building played in their lives. Through these unforgettable stories, Gaza Hospital emerges as a symbol of hope and resistance.
