When trying to understand why a caring father would murder his three young daughters, we asked "Did JBLM deny mental health care to Travis Decker"? The answer we received to our search was that yes, 'Travis Decker was in fact repeatedly denied access to mental health care at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state and that those denials contributed to his deteriorating mental state and the tragic incident involving his daughters.'

Additional research found that while a military base Commander has broad authority to bar individuals from accessing a military installation, anyone authorized medical care through the military system must under federal law be granted access to that on-base medical care. The violation of federal law by the JBLM Commander very likely contributed to the deaths of Paityn Decker, age 9; Evelyn Decker, age 8; and Olivia Decker, age 5.

Arianna Cozart, the attorney for Whitney Decker, the ex-wife of Sergeant Travis Decker, stated "If somebody would have provided Travis with the help that he needed, those girls would be alive."
