Palestine flag demonstrator arrested after Big Ben climb

The man stepped off the building after midnight and onto a cherry picker following a long conversation with negotiators. He got into a waiting ambulance. It’s unclear what charges he faces.

“This has been a protracted incident due to the specifics of where the man was located and the need to ensure the safety of our officers, the individual and the wider public,” police said in a statement.

During the incident, a small group of supporters shouted “Free Palestine” from behind a police cordon nearby.
