From the market's perspective, every new demand for food, shelter, and clothing--embodied in a human being whether documented or undocumented--results in market supply dynamics that necessarily require land/location through which to satisfy the demand. Land values are driven by aggregate demand for land, not by the fact of their ownership. Owning nature does not create value, it merely conveys to the owner the ability to extract the market economic value of land from those who wish to use nature/land/the material universe.

Come along on a FREE walking tour that makes the case for socializing the market value of the material universe, and thereby providing social infrastructure and services paid for by the presence of humanity! This line of thought obliterates the arguments against providing services for immigrants because such services require taxing productive citizens' endeavors; instead, immigrant services can be paid for out of the land value uplift generated by the immigrant's market-determined demand for land!

This story is wrapped inside a broader set of stories about San Francisco social movement history. If the opportunity to reshape the entire immigrant rights conversation holds some appeal for you, and you'd welcome a reworking of the gamut of social concerns facing society, join The Commons SF for a three hour walking conversation about Land & Liberty.
