San Francisco City workers and non-profit workers spoke out at the San Francisco Civil Service
Commission on October 2, 2023 over the termination of City workers for refusal to take the vaccine, the attack on the civil service merit system and the massive outsourcing and privatization of public jobs.
The Department of Human Resources with the collusion of the SEIU 1021 leadership allowed over
1,000 San Francisco city workers to be terminated although SEIU 1021 Oakland and Alameda County employees were not terminated as well SEIU 721 public workers in Los Angeles who did not face termination.

Workers also opposed the attack on the Civil Service merit system. The DHR with the silence of nearly all of the public worker unions is ending the rule of three on a list and going to the rule of the list which allows more nepotism and cronyism in the hiring of workers.

Non-profit workers also spoke out about retaliation and also the fact that non-profit workers are not
being paid as public workers but doing the same work as public employees.

There has been a massive corruption scandal in San Francisco with officials taking pay offs and also a complete lack of oversight of thousands of jobs from HealthRight 360 which is an alternative healthcare system to other City facilities.
These workers do the same work as other city workers and some work side by side with SF City worker with less pay and benefits. The Commission votes on billions of dollars of contracts to work that could be done by City workers.
At the meeting, the DHR wanted to contract out $7 million to security jobs that could be done by
SEIU 1021 city workers. SEIU 1021 spoke against it but has allowed billions to be outsourced without any political campaign to stop it.
