Mass shootings from Buffalo to Laguna Woods to Uvalde have crushed what should be a joyous end of the school year and fun start to summer vacations, summer school and summer camps.
In particular, the horrific school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Ulvade, Texas, that left 19 children and 2 teachers dead, has made some kids and educators scared to return to school or be in organized group settings. Many are exhibiting symptoms of stress and trauma.
Join the American Federation of Teachers for an important conversation on how to support ourselves, identify and understand stress in kids, and support them through traumatic experiences with strategies for parents, guardians, teachers and support staff.
PANEL:
--Randi Weingarten, AFT President
-- Pamela Cantor, M.D., Founder and Senior Science Advisor of Turnaround for Children
--Sarah Lerner, Parkland survivor and AFT member, co-founder of Teachers Unify
to End Gun Violence
--Abbey Clements, Sandy Hook survivor and AFT member, co-founder of Teachers Unify
to End Gun Violence
