Panel Discussion on Youth Activists Pushing for Birth Control Pills to be Over-the-Counter

Tuesday, May 31, 2022 @ noon PT (3 PM ET)

Zoom registration (free): https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Z5-JaXJnRMOV3zrTmaC6bA

Wait, what? Birth control pills… on the shelf… at your local drugstore?! Well… sort of!

Last month, Advocates for Youth led a nationwide campaign and mobilized nearly 300 activists who placed 500 fake pill boxes on the shelves in drugstores across 43 states. Then a popup shelf filled with the same fake pill boxes, and other common over-the-counter (OTC) products, went on display in front of the White House and a film crew captured people’s reactions.

These youth-driven actions demonstrated what it would look like to have birth control pills available right off the shelf in stores across the United States, and we are closer than ever to this becoming a reality.

Join us on May 31 at 3pm ET for a Free the Pill webinar, co-sponsored by Advocates for Youth, to hear about these powerful youth-driven actions, watch a video capturing visitor’s reactions to the shelf at the White House, and learn what you can do to support campaign efforts to bring birth control pills OTC!

Panelists:
- Geoff Corey, Director of Campaigns and Rapid Response, Advocates for Youth
- Bex Heimbrock, #FreeThePill Youth Council Member, Advocates for Youth
- Angela Maske, Strategic Projects Manager, Advocates for Youth
- Julie von Haefen, North Carolina State Representative

Moderator:
- Victoria Nichols, Free the Pill Project Director
