Imminent Collapse of U.S. Imperial project Afghanistan
the 40+ year U.S. Imperial project in Afghanistan(started by the Carter administration back in 1979, with Uncle Sam's backing of Usama binLaden--UBL--and his band of jihadists) is now collapsing like a house of cards, sending shock waves in Washington and on the Public airwaves, especially in the NeoLiberal "Corprorate-bin-Laden" media. The rush is on to explain away the bloody hands of Uncle Sam in creating and maintaining the myth that the U.S. went in with good intentions to help "democratize" the Afghan people and, especially, to "liberate" Afghan women from oppression. The reality is almost 180 degrees from the truth, as an excellent interview by Phyllis Bennis, aired on the August 11 episode of Amy Goodman's DemocracyNow.org website.
Instead, the Corporate bin-Laden media like NPR trots out failed U.S. warlords such as the disgraced(i.e., promoting his female companion to high office) Gen. Petraeus, to pin blame on everyone else, like the U.S.-created Afghan puppet government in Kabul and other regional neighbors like Pakistan. Nowhere in his interview did Petraeus acknowledge the pivotal 4 decades of USA Imperial geo-political schemes to cripple Moscow and wooing the Taliban for an oil pipeline, with the inevitable chaos of a prolonged & brutal tribal-based civil war. After 9-11-2001, Washington immediately used the excuse of UBL living in Afghanistan--but flatly refusing the Taliban offer of trying UBL on a neutral Muslim country, based on US providing solid evidence on UBL's culpability of the 9-11 attacks--to launch its own premeditated "Global War on Terror"(GWOT) and quickly shifting focus onto the invasion/occupation of Iraq, to be followed by violent regime changes in Libya and Syria and eventual hoped-for destabilization of Iran.
Out of this convoluted plan of U.S. domination of the Middle East, a Kabul puppet regime was left to fester on its notorious corruption, funded by tens of billions of U.S. taxpayers' money(estimated cost of 40+ years of this grotesque US-funded debacle is likely to total well over $5 Trillion, including future care of injured GIs!!!) No wonder so many Afghans are sick of decades of US military bombings and assassinations, and of the inept & thoroughly corrupt Kabul "consulate." Truly a sad and tragic legacy of Uncle Sam's deceitful and savage intervention.

Clearly, the most people to suffer from this reactionary, easily predicted retaking of Afghanistan by the anti-women, religious Taliban are women.
Afghanistan is a country of 36 million people, 40% of whom are under age 15, with a life expectancy of 54 for women and 51 for men, and is the poorest country in the world. This is after 20 years of the illegal occupation of Afghanistan, which took place on October 7, 2001, which occurred with the pretext of looking for longtime CIA agent, Saudi national Osama bin Laden, who was the prearranged fall guy for the 9/11 Inside Job, who was dying from kidney failure and Marfan's syndrome, and finally died in December 2001. We were told that he somehow coordinated the 9/11 Inside Job while hooked up to a kidney dialysis machine in a cave in Afghanistan.
The real reason the US invaded Afghanistan was to steal its mineral wealth and to attempt to obtain oil from the Caspian Sea pipeline. It was also a base by which the US could attack Russia.
Too many Americans have fallen for the government's anti-science lie on the 9/11 Inside Job of 9/11/01, the American Reichstag Fire, carried out by the US military at the behest of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice & Giuliani, all representatives of the US capitalist class, to promote war abroad and fascism at home. NO AIR DEFENSE CAN ONLY MEAN IT WAS AN INSIDE JOB. If you need more, the Twin Towers and Building 7 which Building 7 was not hit by any plane, fell in 10 seconds or less, CONTROLLED DEMOLITION, no resistance, in their own footprint, in small enough pieces to illegally cart away the evidence. In memory is the liberation of Vietnam on April 30, 1975, when the Vietnamese liberation forces easily took over Saigon, sending the US military and its lackeys scrambling onto rooftops to catch a helicopter out of Vietnam as they were clearly not expecting the necessity to leave, although the US military was in retreat by the time of the Paris Peace Accords of 1973. The world celebrated this victory with dancing in the streets, including here in Berkeley. The Vietnamese defeated the worst military machine of 8 million soldiers the world had seen since Nazi Germany. The price paid was steep with 3 million dead Vietnamese, 1 million dead Cambodians, 1 million dead Laotians, 58,000 dead Americans and thousands of other dead people.
A prior generation saw the defeat of Dutch imperialism in the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia, when the Japanese rode into Jakarta on bicycles, clearly not facing resistance. The entire Dutch Army, except the medical corps, were imprisoned in prisoner of war camps; the medical corps, including this writer's mother, who had escaped the Holocaust of her native Germany by joining the Dutch Army Medical Corps, was imprisoned in the last year of the war, and was finally liberated by American troops, after they finished spending WW2 conquering real estate in the Pacific.
No country wants to be occupied and even if the invaders are not welcome, the occupation is even less welcome.
