Veto Proof Majority for $740 Billion for War; Nothing for Workingclass
by 42 Days to Go
Tuesday Dec 8th, 2020 8:10 PM
While the American workingclass waits for desperately needed extension of unemployment benefits and eviction protections, the Democrats and Republicans had no trouble passing the National Defense Authorization Act giving $740 billion to the war machine on 12/8/20 in a veto-proof majority, 335 to 78, with 195 Democrats joining 140 Republicans in supporting the war machine's killing of the world's workers to maximize the profits of the oil companies and the munitions makers, the only reason the military exists. See https://clerk.house.gov/evs/2020/roll238.xml
Familiar names voting No were Barbara Lee (Berkeley-Oakland), Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii), Jared Huffman (San Rafael), Pamila Jayapal (Seattle), Joseph Kennedy #3(Mass), Ro Khanna (Santa Clara), Andy Levin (Michigan), Jerry Nadler (New York), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Ilhan Omar (Minn), Ayanna Pressley (Mass), Rashida Tlaib (Michigan).

San Francisco's millionaire Democrat Nancy Pelosi voted Yes.

The 54 million starving Americans waiting in food bank lines and the millions of tenants who cannot pay their rent because there are no jobs come last, if at all. The devastation we see all around us apparently does not move the US Congress because clearly they do not live in the same country the rest of us experience. They cannot come up with the $3 trillion, the $1 trillion, or the $900 billion for the proposed bills since May 15, 2020, to follow the first stimulus of March 2020. They cannot provide the second $1200 stimulus check but they have $740 billion for war. This is mass murder.
