Native American Leaders Come To San FranciscoTo Defend GWHS Victor Arnautoff Murals
Native American leaders came to San Francisco on 2/21/20 to oppose the permanent cover-up of the Victor Arnautoff murals at George Washington High School
Native American leaders came to the San Francisco Unified School District on February 21, 2020 to call for the SFUSD school board and Superintendent Vincent Mathews to reverse their decision to spend over $800,000 to permanently cover up the Victor Arnautoff murals at George Washington High School.
Neither the Superintendent or Mark Sanchez who is the president of the SFUSD board made themselves available to meet with these Native American leaders.
This is the press conference of the event and interviews with Tamaka Baily, a Choctaw Indian elder, educator and magician, John Learned, president of the American Indian Center of the Great Plains and also works with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Braves and Barth Chief Eagle Robinson with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and the Indigenous Social Economic Development Project.
A brief Native American Ceremony took place before the delivery of a letter and documents to the SFUSD.
