Historic sharecropping extorted renter-class farmers a wallop of their labor value and a sizable portion of economic rent in exchange for their access to Mother Earth.
The infamy lives on in the privatization of locational values, posits Leon Phat, himself a member of the idle rich class. Every dollar of locational value handed over to private landlords diminishes the rest of the population, asserts Phat, who found himself living the easy life after taking possession of a small residential parcel in San Francisco. To understand the problem of low wages, political marginalization, and unaffordable rents, Phat has created an interactive board game which will be showcased at this evening's meeting of the Vermilion Club.
"Don't guillotine me, tax the living daylights out of my land values!" enjoins Phat.
Complimentary vegetarian supper accompanies this session of the Vermilion Club. The program is free and open to the public.
