November 20 marks the 50th anniversary of the start of the historic occupation of Alcatraz by Indians of All Tribes (IOAT). The occupation lasted for more than 19 months, until it was repressed and evicted by the federal government. The occupation played a key role in the growing Native struggle across the country.
Join us to commemorate this important event in the struggle for Native rights and sovereignty. Learn more about the demands and the gains of this occupation, as well as hear an analysis of the current Native movement. Plus: The struggle against PG&E continues. $3-10 donation, no one turned away for lack of funds. Refreshments provided. Wheelchair accessible.
